ok so today is one week out,i think im doing pretty well take my vitamins in the morning mostly chewable with a 1/.4 cup of soup fat free with Skim ofcourse i add my protiens in during the day still dealing with weakness and still on the pain meds i try to walk but i run out of energy fast but i feel myself getting stonger and i think im seeing weight loss results already

ofcourse im on full liquids i almost have to force myself to eat or well drink liquids lol. i was so happy 2 days out of the hospital when i passed gas i thought to myself "yes no retrictions so far" then i had a movement and that was a happy day i joked with my mother about it

so a few questions ?

1. how long till the pain stops ? i had a hernia repair and that put me down for 2 months with pain

2. i know everyone is different being so weak is not a normal thing for me i work as a mechanic and having to walk baby steps sometimes...sucks how long did you all see your strength come back ?

3.exercising..guys i can barely walk a flight of steps but the mind wants to run around the block suggestions on exercising while in the enegery lvl i am in now ?

any input would be awesome thank you all

1.  You should not be down that long unless you had open RNY.  Around the left port will hurt longer because that is where the bulk of the work is done through.

2.  Don't bust ass to get back to busting your knuckles.  Desk jobs can be back in a week or two.  If you have to "work" for a living may be five or six.

3.   Exercise only as you can.  Don't hurt yourself by pushing it too hard.  Increase your distances as you get to feeling stronger.  5 - 20 yd walks every day for a week.  Following week up it 30 yds etc.

Remember the Four Mantras of Life Post WLS:

1.  Sip, sip, sip.  Need to get your fluids in.
2.  Walk, walk, walk.  Need the exercise and prevent clots.
3.  Any problems - CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!  'nuff said.
4.  Never, and I mean NEVER, TRUST A FART!!  You may find yourself experiencing a "laundry emergency"!

Strap in, hang on and enjoy the ride!!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Considering that it is colder than the proverbial witches tit in a brass brassiere in PA right now - walking stairs is the best you can do for now!  Feeling weak at a week out is again well with in normal.  You are not going to be running marathons just yet!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

The pain will pass.  Sure your surgern gave you post pills.  NO EXERCISE now.. I tried after 1 mo and it put me down for 2 days. After 3 mos u may ask you surgern to treadmill, stairs, weights  GOOD LUCK

Don is right on with his advice.  It will take 5 or 6 weeks til you get back to 100% energy level. Don't overdo it, just walk and sip, walk and sip.

Just walk a little bit each. The pain will go away. Sounds like you are doing good. Remember, it is a journey, not a race.

Congratulations

so i just returned from the hospital today for a 5 day visitm come to find out i had 2 pulmonary Embilisms take home in my lungs and yes i was was moving the whole time post op and no im not known to get blood clots 1 passed threw my heart

its nice bedside manner when the Lung doctor comes in to see you and says after looking at the Cat scan " these we`re so big i thought i was looking at a dead person`s CAT scan"

im not dead yet boys and girls will take more then blood clots to keep me down

so post op since the 20th of Jan lost 54lbs gained 3 blood clots 2 in my lungs and 1 in my leg oh and still have the shortness of breath but its expected from the clots but its getting better and will be on blood thinners for 6 months

bottom line did i make the right call to get this surgery done....YES im too much of a fighter to let something like this keep me down i have alot of life to live and im not done yet
