Sup men,

I need some help is there any men in here that had WLS and was over 400 pounds and is now at there goal and didn't have to have a tummy tuck because they where able to turn the flab into muscle?

If so can you please give me some advice? What you did?

This is my plan.

1. I am going to start working out this week going to try 3x's a week but at min 2.
2. Start drinking protein to start and try to build muscle plus I here it helps with the flab.
3. By the time I have my surgery I hope to be up to 5x's a week working out so I wont have a problem doing it after my surgery.

Should be 6 months before my surgery because I started the 6mth PCP diet plan this month.

So do y'all think my plan will help? or what do I need to add to it or what do i need to do different?

Thanks in advance.

I gotta say that it will help your life in multple areas if you workout and eat healthy and take your supplements.

There are no guarantees that you will not have excess skin though.  Each of us carries our weight in different areas and age, genetics, and other factors can play a part.  That said I think it is a good idea to excercise and do strength training to help with the flab.  It can only help bro.

I have a similar plan to help with my flabbier areas.  I carry almost all my excess weight in my upper body (I have no ass at all and my wife points it out all the time) I have a lot of belly fat and my man boob and side and back fat make my chest size larger than my waist size - which is cool if you are rippling with muscles but not cool if you are jiggling jelly.

I fully plan on doing whatever I can to get rid of the man boobs but I am pretty sure that I will either have to live with what I have after I loose the weight or I will have to have a tummy tuck and male breast reduction.  I know this from prior weight loss 16 years ago when I went from 315 to 205 and I still had the damn man boobs.

The skin will either go away or it won't it's a genetic thing, and a time thing.  It seems that the longer you had the extra skin, the less likely you are to have it go away.  You have stretched it and unfortunately you end up being left with the skin that used to house all the flab underneath.

You can exercise and build up some muscle tone under it, but if you are unlucky enough to be someone who's skin doesn't go away, no amount of exercise is going to make it go away.  The skin isn't a muscle or fat that you can exercise, you can't turn flab into muscle either, they are 2 different body tissues.  What you can do is reduce the fat and increast the muscle by exercising, which you are already doing (Good job).

I hope you are lucky enough to have it go away.

The guys are right. Once the skin is stretched beyond it's capacity, it loses some of it's elasticity. Think of a balloon  - once it is blown up, it never goes back to it's original size completely.  If the amount of weight gained and lost is excessive, it's doubtful that the skin will return to "normal" and will remain stretched and loose to some degree.

Muscle and fat are 2 different things. Increasing muscle mass does help burn body fat because the added muscle requires more fuel. Body fat is one form of stored fuel for the body. The body will use stored fat for energy during exercise, provided there is a deficit of calories taken in as opposed to calories used on a regular basis.

It's great that you have started an exerise program. I wouldn't get too hung up on building a lot of muscle mass just yet, though.  I'd primarily focus on doing cardio and aerobic activities, while incorporating some weight training using light weights and high reps (15 to 20). In conjunction with proper nutrition, this should help increase your metabolism, burn some body fat,  tone your muscles, and improve your cardiovascular system prior to your surgery - which should all help you both with the surgery and afterwards.  Good luck to ya and hang in there!

I think what he means is fill the space that was occupied fat with muscle to fill out the loose skin. I have the same sort of thing in mind. I need to add massive slabs of beef to my lats and chest to fill in the man boobs and these under arm rolls.

Better call A-Rod and get the chemical hook up!

Get teh tummy tuck both the vertical and horizonatal cuts.  I did 500 crunches a day and other ab exercises.  You need the tummy tuck.  It ain't that bad.
