Fish Oil
Dan,
I take fish oil. I am a big believer in it. I does countless things for your health, both mental and physical. It is good for your heart and your cardio vascular health in general. It has helped greatly improve my cholesterol levels both bad and good. It's good for your skin. It has anti-inflamitory properties that make it good for your health in general, as inflamation is thought to be the root of many diseases. Fish oil is also good for the brain. It helps inprove brain function and has a postive effect on mood. I have friends who are able to use fish oil exclusively (with doctor supervision) to control their depression. It does no hard to take fish oil (unless you have fish alergies). I think everyone should be taking it. I also feel that way about chromium but that's another post.
I use a product called coromega. It's a pudding like emulsion instead of a capsule. Easier to take and more easily and better absorbed by the body than capsule form.
fish oil rocks man. take it. consult your doc first of course.

Rather than fish oil, I get my Omega 3's from cold rolled flax seed (refrigerated section of health food stores). I add 2TBS's to my Kashi cerial every morning. That way I also get the benefit of the fibre. If you do take the fish oil, a good suggestion is to keep them in the freezer, if you take them frozen by the time they thaw they are far enough down your intestinal tract that you wont have fish breath.

Our doctor recommended that my wife and I take fish oil for me she thinks it will lower my bad chlorestal and raise the good. even though my over all number is good. for my wife she says that it will lower her overall chlorestal numbers and her triglycerides. I dont know if it is doing anything or not but I will take it for now she is retesting our blood in three months to see if it helps.

Many post-ops take it who are still not experiencing HDL ("good cholesterol") levels as high as they would like .. Usually blood lipid levels improve after WLS (DS or RNY), with the exception sometimes of HDL .. Supposedly the primary ways of improving it are ****xercise or (2) taking "good" oil supps (like fish oil)

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

The only thing I know is if it hasn't been kept refrigerated, then you lose all of the benefits. I don't buy it in Japan because, in addition to being so expensive, there are no companies that can guarantee that it has stayed cold.
I found one flax oil company that will guarantee that the oil stays cold.
I think Udo's Choice in the states guarantees constant refrigeration.
