I had my weight loss surgery in july of 2006, and i am embarassed to say that now i am not doing too well. in the summer of 2007 I met my girlfriend, and at the time i was down about 200 pounds to what tyo me was starting to look too skinny at 220. since I met my girlfriend, we have both gained considerable weight, i am back to being 300 popunds and its scarin g me. I guess i got too comfortable around her and just kept eating whatever she wanted. she also went from being 110 to 200(she also had our child in that time frame). I dont really know why Im writing here but maybe for some encouragement or some words of advice, because im scared toi death im going to go back to the complete old me and i cant live with that again.I went on such a big shopping spree after lkosing the weight and i cant fit into that clothes anymore and all it has lead to more depression and more eating. it feels good to get this off my chest but i dont know somebody please whatever encouragement u can give me would be great!!

You know you are going to get an ass beating here, but take it like a man and keep taking positive steps to get back on track.  You have made the first positive steps by admitting your problem and reaching out for help.  Now, quite blaming your girlfriend.  You're not a victim of her offerings of food.  You are responsible for your own actions and choices.  Your tool still works I am sure.  I am glad if feels good to get it off your chest.  NOw focus on how good it will feel to start getting healthy again.

May I throw the first punch, for his choosing to wear horizontal stripes?  !

Oh, I would also suggest using your health insurance and takign advantage of its counseling benefits.  A good counselor is worth a lot and will help you deal with your emotional/addictive eating

Thanks for the reply an your right I deserve an assbeating. i didnt mean to blame my girlfriend I know it is all my fault because i started feeling too comfortable, thats not her fault its all in my head. Im going to do my best to start getting back into gear, I know its good to get back on this board and take my lumps when i need them because this was the place that kept me on the ball for a long while. thanks again

Like Steve said you're going to get an ass beating here.  Preform a cranialrectaledomy and get back to basics. Walk, sip, etc. Since your GF has put on what sounds like a little more than just a little "mommy weight" get her on a program with you. Lot easier to walk, go to gym etc, with a partner. You did not go down the road you went as far as you did to go back did you?  Not no but HELL NO! You are not here looking for words of encouragement or advice. What you are seeking is affirmation of what you already know you need to do. Get busy and good luck!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Although I was cheating shortly after my first RNY, I found out 4 years later that I had a staple line disruption and had to have a second RNY.  So...see your primary or surgeon and get your stomach scoped to ensure that the surgery is intact.

But, either way, I suggest that you get the Beck Diet Solution.  I got both the hardcover and the workbookk, but most men here are just using the workbook.  The author says it's fine to use either one.  Beck teaches you how to follow and remain on a diet.  Oh, that may be a dirty word with some people but it's just a proscribed way of eating.  WLS alters your body byt not your mind.  Most people learn to eat like a thin person within the first 6 mos post-op.  If you no longer eat like a thin person, Beck will teach you how to think and eat like a thin person.

It has transformed my life since I got it in mid-Jan of this year.  I've been a carb addict and junk food junkie for as long as I can remember.  I could barely go a day without my addictive foods.  I was embarrassed to tell my first surgeon that I had had M&Ms at 3 mos post op.  I could not eat excessively large meals then, but I sure could cheat between meals.  I  even had problems following my 2nd RNY.  I've been free from my addictive foods since I got my copy of Beck's and have been steadily losing weight over the past 3 weeks.  See my Latest Posts for more info.

Welcome to kick ass advice room.  Nut told me 2 weeks b4 surgery - clean out the house - no carbs, junk, sugars etc.  She came by and did an inspection- lost $32. food that day. She was more serious than I.  It worked. The post op plan works.  Get back to protein, fluids.
Get some pschy help.  You may have lost  your way of identifying the bad habits.
EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE find a way to burn off 800 cals a day through hard exercise - not standing and breathing stuff, but a routine of treadmill, weights, stairs etc
Easy to fat'n up hard to trim it down
I was a desk pear and couch potatoe.  I thought standing, breathing and walking to the car was good enough. WRONG WRONG WRONG ( my best d hopper)
GOOD LUCK - GET MAD GET CONTROL

The only way to lose it now is the traditional way- through hard work, but it will be a lot easier to keep off once you do lose it again. That's all I've got, I could give you hell, but I know some people like sweets more than others and some people hate working out more than others.

Good Luck,

Dave

I was only 20 lbs. lighter than you are now and twice your age (44) when I started working out 10 hours a week. Get on the ball (or some exercise device) and get that young rear in gear!
