Full for 30 Minutes Max
Here is a thread by some members that are doing it:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/hunger_and_food_troubles/3 475715/Day-number-1-of-the-5-day-pouch-test/
Actually, reading through the thread, it seems like the "test" is really more of a way of getting back off carbs and back to protein gradually (shows how much I know about RNY I guess!
)
However, I did read a few times on OH also about some way of using a pre-measured amount of cottage cheese to determine approximately the size of the RNY pouch and how much it has stretched out .. You eat a certain amount out of a container and fill the remainder left in the container with water to the top, and then measure how much water it took to fill it, or some such.
Don't know how accurate that really is, though . I do wish we had something similar we could do to check our sleeves, as I'm SURE mine has stretched out considerably, maybe even 2x what it was originally ..

Hello Batswingsman,
No, I haven't tried it yet. So far I am able to go at least two hours without eating anything and then, if I feel the meal has come too early I make sure that it's a "near nil" absorption mean. That is, very high fiber or even preceded by a glass of water and Glucomannon, which is a powder which absorbs 200X it's weight in water, isn't absorbed and takes just about everything else out with it. Also makes you feel full.
So things haven't gotten that bad yet!
Best Wishes,
Dave

Interesting. I have heard of the cottage cheese test. I talked to my doctor about it and he said the only true way to see if your pouch has stretch is to do a scope. I'll wait til something get stuck again, then I'll see then. haha
Thanks for the info. I may give the 5-day a try.

It may be true that the only way to see if the pouch has stretched is to view it with a scope. Be it far from me to disagree witha doctor. But I can eat quanititesat 15 months out that I couldn't have eaten at 6 months out w/o throwing up. And that's a fact. I don't do it but every so often, but I can eat a McD quarter pounder w cheese inside of 10 minutes. The only difference between now and pre-op is I don't eat any of the fries or have a quart of coke to go with it.
I'm not as far out as Dave and some of the rest of you, but the only way I've found to avoid quickly recurring hunger is to a) leave the carbs alone, and b) keep the system plumped up with water. I don't know if I agree with everything Dr. Adkins had to say in his diet book, but I do think he had a point when he advocated that carbs, and especially sugar are the main culprit in driving our hunger and distorting our sense of when we've had enough to eat.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

For now, my solution is to eat stuff that could never make you fat until 5:00 pm and then let the surgery and my high quanities of exercise take over from there. Lately, though my dinner has been making me fall asleep by 6:00 (or is that old age?)
