I just read on other forums about losing hair while losing weight.  It was onthe LapBand forum and all 4 who commented all expereinced hair loss.

Guys....Tell me straight up.

Did you lose your hair??????

If so did it grow back or what??????

I can handle being one, fat or bald, but not both.  That is just cruel.......my wife may leave me...lol.

Mine had gotten thinner but has come back somewhat since my weight loss has slowed.

That is one of the curses of the "XY" chromosone.  It removes the hair from where we want it, our heads, and puts it where we don't, our ears and nostrils!

It is possible to lose hair. the key is keeping your protein levels up to where they belong. I have never heard if this being a problem with the band as you do not have malabsorbation(sp) part of the rny or ds. I have been told that  biotin my help prevent hair loss in weight loss surgery patients. My doctor said it is just temporary if it does happen it will be in the 3-6 month post op period.

It doesn't seem to be as big an issue for men as it is for women.  Don't put it too high on the list of worries.

Let me add to what I said earlier by saying don't worry about any loss of hair you may have.  It will be offset by a "gain" in your Johnson!

I am not sure if my hair thinned or not.  I did not see any hair on my pillow and it did not fall out when I ran my hands through my hair.  It did look a little thinner, but I also had cut my hair much shorter for the summer, so that may have been why it looked thinner.

Currently my hair is just a little shorter than my pre op weight and it is much curlier now.  I was told to take biotin and keep the protein levels up to help reduce hair loss.  When you think about the changes your  body goes through during the initial post op phase, it is not surprising that you could loose some hair.

I am planning to cut my hair shorter when the weather her in upstate NY gets warmer, so I could then let you know if it looks any thinner.

Good luck
