As the doc said it would, my sleep apnea has gone away. Been sleeping without it for a couple months now with no problems.
I've been trying to sell my bipap machine on local classified web ads and so far, zilch. Well, two replies, but both of them Nigerian scam trollers wanting to send "certified checks" and get info. They've gotten nothing from me.
Any of you guys have suggestions on where/how I can sell this thing?

Even though your doc said that the sleep apnea would go away, the only way to be sure is to have another sleep study done.  I thought my sleep apnea had gone away after I stopped snoring with a couple months post op and my wife said I wasn't stopping breating at night.  So, I stopped using it.

Fast forward 8 years and my primary did an EKG and found out that I have atrial fibrilation.  He asked if I was still using the CPAP and I told him that I hadn't used it since a few months post-op,  He ordered a new sleep study.  Although I had improved tremendously, I still do have sleep apnea.  But, the ins provided for a new machine whi*****ludes a vaporizer where the vapor can be heated a bit.  Also, I can start it at a low setting and it automatically ramps up to the proper setting.  I try to use it every night, but I also use Flomax and one of the side effects of that is frequent runny nose.  On nights when my nose is running, I don't use the CPAP because I have to keep taking off the mask to blow my nose.

I actually had a garage sell and sold my c-pap for $50. I really didn't expect to have it sold, but it was one of the first things to go. You may put an ad in Craigslist or something like that. There are lots of people that need medical equipment that don't have insurance to fund it. You could also donate it to one of those organizations that gives things like that to people that need them. Just a thought.

This is a common (F.A.R.T.) problem that I have posted about before here and on TT ..

(btw, I still have BOTH of mine, one of which I "inherited" from a prior WLSer) ...

I had proposed maybe we could have a big bonfire, or a "smashing" at OH events of all such devices, clothing, etc. that we post-ops no longer need!

What to do with them, seriously?    B/c they are a prescribed medical device, it is technically illegal to sell them to another person, and therefore Ebay does not allow their sale nor, AFAIK, Craig's List (technically) ..  That notwithstanding, b/c it is a durable medical good, there is also the risk of contamination from the previous owner(s) if it is re-sold, which is another reason some publications prohibit listing them for sale (as well as people sometimes reluctant to buy them or charities accept them as a "donation") ..

If you ins. paid for it, there is another possible problem, in that many health ins. cos. (like my BC of Texas) now have a clause in their policies that if they provide you with a durable medical device and at some point you no longer need it, you agree to return it to them    (not sure what THEY do with it   ).   If they find out that you sold it off they will sometimes threaten to hold the amount they paid for the device out of your future benefits, if and when needed ..   (@ $2K-$4K for a CPAP and even more for a BiPAP machine, that can be quite a chunk of change  ).   I don't know anyone they actually did this to, but it's a risk that hangs out there.

My suggestion is to just hang onto it and give it to someone that you know that needs one but can't afford it (so long as your ins. co. has no objection).   Hopefully you know how to set the ramp setting on it, as it may be more or less pressure than they need ..
