Were You Ever "Bribed" With Food As A Pre-Op?

I was watching Hogan's Heroes last night and watched, as yet again, the corpulent Sgt. Schultz was being coaxed to do the Allie's bidding in exchange for the promise of a "chocolate bar" from the "heroes".      It seems like the troops were always dangling some kind of food item (inc. LaBeau's French cooking) in front of his nose to tempt him to do traitorous things, to which he always succumbed.

This got me to thinking how often, back when I was a pre-op, people (usually non-MO, btw) would try the same tactic on me, just assuming I guess b/c I was SO that I was a big eater and would be willing to do anything for food (vs. $$ and, judging by the gals that pulled it, even sex).  In fact, I had a biz client once - a family that owned a Mexican restaurant - who would ask me for professional advice and tell me to order "on the house" whenever I would drop in, as apparently "barter".

I guess at the time it didn't seem so offensive, and I freely admit I usually succumbed to the food offers from people.        Looking back now, though, I guess I resent what they "assumed" about me and did merely b/c of my size, and, even more so, myself for giving in to them.          Very interesting to see how now, since my surgery and weight loss, I have not had such a similar occasion arise a SINGLE time.      That only bothers me more, I guess.

Have you had a similar experience(s) in your pre-op days?

Counselor,

Can relate to food offers!  Not based on my obesity but on stereotyping of the general population on police officers.  The doughnut thing to be exact.

Was a slow Saturday in my part of Cedar Creek Lake when approached by small boy and father with video camera.  On a video scavenger hunt and wanted to tape the lights on a cop car.  No problem.  My "reward" was a package of powdered doughnuts.  Same thing happened about an hour later with a group of young women.  Same reward.

Having had the first two encounters later on in the day when I was at a local stop and rob to get fuel when I was approached once again by a pre teen boy and father with the video camera.  I was on the phone with my now ex-wife telling her what had happened and at the same time giving the father non verbal, hand signals, communication on where to stand to take video etc.  When I got off the phone and exited the car the boy gave me a dozen glazed doughnuts in the box!

Did not help that I was SO to say the least but was more pissed about the profiling than anything.  We have to go to cultural diversity classes to be taught not to do such things but the populous can stereotype us to the max.

Oh by the way, have you heard the one about the lawyer..............

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
