Warnin:g to men: Cooking can ruin your life
I am relating this in hopes that it may spare some other poor male the agony it once caused me. It came to mind because of a reply post by DretheDog. This ones for you dog.
As I have said in a previous post I grew up in a large Greek family that owned several restaurants, where I began working at an early age and learned to cook. About twenty years ago, when my daughter was about 5 at a family gathering, one of my aunts, out of the clear blue, asked my daughter, "Who's a better cook momma or papa?" Now my daughter is a sharp minded person and had that sharp mind even as a child, and I could tell that she thought that this was a loaded question. She thought for a bit and then spouted out in front of her mother, "Dad can cook, mom just opens cans!" I found the couch very uncomfortable that night.
The lesson to learn here is; Men you can end up in the dog house and not have done anything wrong!

I have been married 27 years this June. Many times I have looked at my wife after she has made a comment and not say a word. When she presses me for a reply I tell her there is no way for me to answer her question, there is no response I can make that will do anything but get me asshole deep into trouble. The key is knowing when to keep your mouth shut.
Years ago after a meeting I was in, where I inadvertently told one of the owners that he was full of **** I was told by a co-worker that you can't listen your self into trouble, but you can talk your self into trouble.
When it comes to being married, keep your mouth shut, admit to nothing and deny everything.. Pick and choose your battles and never do anything that you don't want to do the rest of your life. For example if you buy her a card, give her flowers and take her out on your first anniversary, plan on doing at least that for as long as you are married. If you never do it the first time then she won't expect it.

I must just have a loving wife or be incredibly lucky. I don't think I can say anything that would drive her away or make her mad at me for any length of time. But, she let me know early in our marriage that she'd be gone if I ever cheated. I never seriously thought about doing that ( hey, everyone looks and she knows that). In some ways I guess I'm just blessed. I'm bi-polar and she's just about the most sound person I could hope to be with. She's not judgemental. We've truly grown closer together over the course of our marriage of 34.5 years.
