Police and Surgery
I'm just going to speak in general terms. Yes, over the years we have had some police. They usually get their surgery, ask the standard questions for a few months, then disappear (for obvious reasons). Another sidebar...since so many of the cops in the US come from the military, keep in mind that the those cops that have thought of going back into the military (in the very back of their minds), as a future option, need to lose it. The military will not accept anyone who has had WLS. They feel if they're deployed they can't provide the needed treatment for them in the field. Brian
My office doesn't have a problem with it. I was just curious to know others experinces. Like how long did they take off? When did they feel like "their old self"? Is there any risk as to "dangerous" situations, fighting criminals ect.? Beside the obvious of course. I'm very proactive and "balls to the wall", so I really dont want to lose a step!
Now wait a minute .. going from attorney TO cop ???
In fact, I used to joke it would make a good story idea for a comedy movie about a D.A. who ends up getting disbarred and, as a result, has to become a cop to make a living, much to the chagrin of his fellow officers (e.g. they think he's a little "too formal" at procedures and "hesitant" in action b/c of his background) ... And imagine running into all those crooks back on the streets that you had put away earlier (or thought you did) .. !

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )
I had fifteen years worth of small town experience in TX and still hold a valid Master Certification. My experience was not pretty by a long shot. It was not directly related to the WLS itself but was a conglomeration of things that put me on the sidelines. Will not go into detail here but I'll send you a PM in day or two.
These are one year post op. Me in 52's:

Me in ONE LEG of the 52's:

Duty rig used last summer:

As a former "client" described me since I've lost weight I did not look as "intimidating" as I did when I was heavy.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
I'm starting my downward trend from 50's - may have had one pair of 52s. I lost 90 pounds about eight years ago on a doctor-supervised diet, so I still have some 46s and 44s to take me through the weight loss. I'm wearing a pair of 48s right now. From my 18/2XL shirts, I have a supply of 17.5, 17, XL and even one 16.5 shirt. Even saved the next size smaller Fruit-of-the-Looms.
Just from the liquid diet pre-op, I'm down about nine pounds from Friday to Monday. Looking forward to continuing that!
And there may not be many police or firefighters, but I'll claim to be a minister on the list!
