Chewable calcium citrate - Help
I found liquid calcium citrate. Blueberry Flavor and sand http://www26.netrition.com/now_liquid_cal_mag.html
I was taking the Spring Valley (i.e .Walmart) caclium citrate horsepills for over 2 years, watching my PTH level go up and up, only to finally learn that we do not absorb them very well at all.
I have switched to the Bariatric Advantage chewable tabs (4 different flavors available) and can't wait for my next PTH check to see how low it has gone ..

I think I tried samples of the other 3 flavors at an OH event some time back, but can't remember what they taste like. My first order this time were the "wild cherry" ones, and they are SO sour .. like "Sweettarts" ..
I usually have to eat a Hershey's Kiss or something sweet right after to take the edge off .. I have heard that the chocolate flavor is BAD, as far as chocolate flavors go ..
I haven't heard about the mint flavor's taste .. I think Vitalady prefers the cinnamon ones, and that's probably what I'll order next time .. She says she likes to grind them up and sprinkle them on apple slices .. Tastes just like "cinnamon apples" ..

I have some chewable Tums I'm going to use temporarily - they are calcium carbonate and my surgeon and nut want calcium citrate, so that's what I'll look for long term. I think I'll try ordering the Bariatric Advantage for now. I don't necessarily want to use a liquid, and the bigger bottle of BA seems to be somewhat cost effective. Until I get them ordered and they arrive, I started back on Tums this morning, and taking the meds was SO much easier!
The cinnamon chewables from Bariatric Advantage are tolerable, but I'll probably look at something else when I finish this container. I did get some of BA's chewy bites, chocolate flavor, and with their light fudge-like consistency they may be a good after-dinner treat - two will give me 500 mg of calcium. Together with a 400 mg pill in the morning and at noon, that will get me over the 1200 mg recommended by my NUT. I may try the BA chewy bites in lemon creme the next time I order.
