Energy returns
Finally! I took two walks today and actually felt energized. I'm not sure why. Either I am slowly recovering from the trauma of surgery... or perhaps that I am eating more.
Today's menu:
2 egg whites microwaved
62 g of fat free ricotta cheese (mixed with the egg whites)
Miso soup (1 cup)
1 scoop whey protein powder in water
one half can of Starkist very low sodium tuna (chewed.. not pureed)
one half tablespoon of Hellman's Light Mayonnaise
5.3 oz Organic Plain Greek yogurt
Jello instant fat and sugar free chocolate pudding (126g)
1 scoop whey protein powder in water
3.5 oz Gerber carrots 2nd foods
2.5 oz Gerber Chicken & Gravy 2nd foods
2oz cooked shrimp (chewed well)
92g sugar free orange Jello
838 Calories - 123 g protein - 14 g fat - 50 g carbohydrates
I am surprised to be eating so much food, less than three weeks after RNY. But if that's what I need for energy, I won't complain

I'll bet that you are glad to be transitioning out of the pureed diet and into the solid foods. Now you can have all three phases--liquid, pureed and solid. You'll eventually be able to increase your portions until you are having between 1,000 to 1,200 cal per day. that will come in a few months. You will also find when you can tolerate different foods. Some foods that may irritate you now may be tolerable just a few weeks from now. I'm thinking along the lines of various vegetables and fruits. I know that I just can't tolerate many spicy foods but that doesn't seem to be a problem with many men. I've read that a lot of them like Wendy's Chili (which is a bit spicy to my tastes but then again I don't even like the common black pepper from the tabletop).
