Does beano really work?

Well I am always one for easy (too time consuming for the anise use) so I will stick with the Beano or Gas-X for now.

Good question Donna. It has been on my mind to get me some Beano. I had some before and didn't think it worked that well, but I know I wasn't taking it regularly, 2 before each meal. Is that right? Maybe I need to take 3. I ask this because Friday especially and some yesterday, Saturday, had terrible gas, extra bad. With that, my pooping is not that great. So I have taken some MiraLax yesterday and today. I think if I can poop more, less gas. Or I was thinking of getting Gas-X for when I do have gas. Which is better to invest in, Beano or Gas-X, anybody know?

You look great!

Be careful with the laxatives and pooping more. You can get dehydrated before you know it.

I Use GasX strips..sort of like breath strips, except they have GasX in them.

I'm going to try that Star Anise, though.

Full fat...full flavor...Lovin' my DS since 2/25/09

GasX strips also have sugar alcohols...which CAUSE lower GI problems for many.

yes it does work, if the gas is caused by complex carbs reaching your colon undigested. The problem with beano is it breaks down those complex carbs into sugars in the small intestines, that are then absorbed by your small intestines. This reduces the effectiveness of your DS malaborbstion component. If you want to maximize your weight loss, don't eat those foods that cause you gas and bloating.

There is a difference between Beano and GasX. Beano is an eynzme that is supposed to prevent your body from producing the gas, and GasX is to stop it once it is produced.

I do use both, and they work, but I prefer to take 3 beano first if I eat something gassy and stop it before it starts!

I don't know, i am a farting machine. I dont know what causes it. I use lactaid with my shakes, I am beginning to think it is one of the vitamins doing it. who the hell knows.

Everything makes me fart!!!!!!! oh hell!!!!!

Its ok tho. going to start my primal defense ultra probiotics, maybe they will help

My Primal Defense Ultra has helped me - as long as I don't crazy with the carbs! That's the key for me!!

Excess gas is a symptom of a bacteria overgrowth, I think...so you might want to think about that too :)

donna --- i can drink water and fart, so i know what ya mean about being the queen of gas. beano only works for me for a short period of time. like a few hours. i will take it at work if we are having something like chinese for lunch. at least this gets me home before my gas producing insides start up and embarrass me in the office.
as for gas-x, it will help on the occasions i get trapped gas, but it does wreak havoc with my poo-elimination in the morning.
