I must have been living right this week! Was able to up the number of walks I took this week and have eaten more like I should. Have to remember to HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!

To those of you who are former military "thank you" for your service to this country. We know when you're active duty the pay sucks, the possibility of deployment is a reality, being a casualty is a possibility and having the ever loving **** scared out of you is guaranteed so again "thank you"!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

16 Weeks Post Surgery Update - Happy Memorial Day - Thanks to all of our Heroes!

506.5: All time high 9/9/9 - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Surgery day 2/7/11
383.2: Last Week 5/22/11
376.2: This Week 5/29/11 - 7 lbs lost this week - BMI = 47.0

116.2 lbs lost since starting the Tufts program.
130.3 lbs lost from my all time highest weight.

This has been a fantastic week for me regarding diet, exercise and life in general.  I exercised like a mad man this week and it totally showed on the scale.  I did the elliptical for 60 minutes at a time for 5 days this past week.  I feel like a million dollars.  I had three big events to go to during the past week and made wise food choices and even thought ahead and brought protein shakes to supplement.  What I love most about this tool is that even if I do grab a few chips or make a not so healthy choice (a taco) that if I use mindful eating during the meal that I can't possibly overeat and end up having a fairly low calorie meal.  It is liberating to no longer be married to food and just simply enjoy the event and the company.  What a feeling.

In addition to all of the exercise I spent the week coaching my two girls in softball.  I pitched a total of six innings to my youngest daughter's softball team and felt like a million dollars.  I am doing things now that I haven't done in twenty years.  For the first time in a very long time I am looking forward to summer!   Who'd have thunk it!!    I also spent the week getting my above ground pool ready to go and am happy to report that as of today it is ready to go.  It has been nearly effortless to set up the pump, filter, stairs, etc...  Amazing how much all of that extra weight made everything so much harder to do.  I knew it in my heart but would never admit it to myself.  There is no turning back now from a healthy lifestyle.

I need more clothes as I have gone from a 7X down to about a 3X.  I was telling my wife that we need to order some new clothes online and she reminded me that we could actually go to a "real people" store and buy clothes for me now.  What a crazy thought that I can now buy clothes off of the rack at a department store.

Well, still got another graduation to attend today and then off to spruce up all of my family's graves at 5 different cemetaries (something I do every year on Memorial Day) and then a softball game Memorial Day afternoon.  Hopefully I get some time in for swimming this weekend!!

To all my friends on the OH forum, stay strong and motivated!!

Happy Memorial Day and I Hope everyone has a great week!

I'm at the same point with the clothes shopping.  It's amazing how much smaller you look when you get clothes that fit.  Keep up the great work!

It is so funny that you say that.  When I wear the older, bigger clothes I can really tell the difference in the mirror as opposed to when I wear properly fitting clothes.  Great FARTs!!  Thanks.

An entire week without exercise (thanks to umbillical hernia surgery), and I've lost 5 lbs?  After being stuck for a couple of weeks, I'll take it!  Feeling much better now, but still occasional "side effects" from the surgery.  I had (almost) forgotten how constipated the anesthesia and pain killers can make you... And the mixed joy/pain when you finally "deliver"...  Sheesh!

Heading to church in a few minutes, then having my mother and sister over for lunch to celebrate Memorial Day.  I know - it's a day early - but we've got a lot of stuff to do on Monday.  I can't start exercising until after I see my surgeon on Friday, and (I can't believe I'm saying this) I cannot wait to get going again...  I've really missed working out, and I can't even "cheat" by doing it at home, since my Nordic Trac machine pushes against my belly, exactly where the surgerey took place...  So I've just been walking around the house, yard, and so forth...  Not quite the same!

And from one former US Army vet to the others who've served their country (in any capacity):  Thank you!  To those who have lost loved ones who were serving in the military, my deepest sympathies.  I know that nothing will ever take away the hurt of losing someone you loved.

Total loss: 188.0

I've been up and down this week between 217 - 219 lbs. I guess that is what maintenance is all about. Each of the last two weeks I've missed one gym day, due to other commitments, so I need to get on track there to avoid issues.

Have a great weekend guys.

Jeff, my man!  That's fantastic.  I know what a milestone it is to drop below 300!  And you have come such a long way!  You've been doing great, and it makes me really happy to see you in the 2's!  Keep up the great work.
