Total Calorie Intake.

Okay here we go I was sleeved on 7-8-15 I lost 13.5 pounds the first two weeks. So far I have hit the third week stall which I hear everyone does with this in play I only lost 5.5 pounds.  I am also at the stage where I can start adding more food the only problem is I already take in 300 calories just in my protein drink which only gets my 45 grams or protein. So my question is what kind of calorie level should I be looking at on a daily basis in order too keep losing weight?

It all depends on your specific plan. My doctor never gave me a calorie goal. Instead they focused on protein. I was told to get at least 65 grams of protein but to shoot for 80+. Also, my carbs should be low and my sugars as close to zero as possible. Once I met that, there were no other restrictions. I've found that, for me at least, I try to stick to 700-800 per day. You're still in your first month post-op, so back then I was probably around 400 or so. 

What protein shake are you using? Premier is 160 calories and 30g of protein. That's my fave. If you have a powder, have you mixed with water or cashew or almond milk instead to save on calories? Just a thought. 

Keep to your plan and focus on recovery, water, and movement. The weight will come off if you just follow the plan. You're in the honeymoon phase so just maximize and do your best, and you'll be great!

You should focus on protein and hydration, not calories. That said, there is no reason to get many or any calories from protein drinks. I use HumaPro which has zero calories per very small scope which I add to water. It get me 25 grams of protein. I also take HumaPro protein pills if I need more, also zero calories.

At 8.5 months out, I get 120 grams of protein, 150 carbs, too much sugar and about 1800 calories. I'm losing more weight than I expected and hope to start a bounce back gain of 15 to 20 soon.

It's impossible to get 25 grams of protein in zero calories. If it has zero calories, it will have zero nutrition.

1g of protein = 4 calories...no matter how you slice it.

 

Impossible to get protein without calories.

My doctor's plan called for 1200 calories when you hit the full diet, which was at about 6 weeks for us.  However, I focused on Protein and water, and the calories seemed to take care of themselves.  For a few months after surgery, I was at 800-900 a day, which seemed to work really well for me.

I have tried many different protein shakes and drinks. The only one I could stand is the Active liquid protein it gives me 21 grams of protein and 90 calories in 30 ml of mix.

I am not a man but I would suggest different protein drink. I use isoflex brand. It's 115 cal for 27 G protein. So even if you had 2 of those a day it would be under your 300 cal shake . Mix w 30 cal almond milk for your calcium

I think the important thing to remember is that your calorie count isn't causing that stall, and isn't going to get you out of it.

When I hit my stall (and it lasted for about two frustrating weeks) I was averaging 600 calories a day.

I'm two months out today, averaging about 1,100 calories a day, and still losing rapidly.

When I start to worry about my calorie intake, I think back to my pre-surgical weight loss; I was consistently losing weight on over 2000 calories a day. That helps me to remember that I need to be focused on listening to my body, getting in my protein and water, and exercising.
