Lab Band Recovery Question

I will be having my lap band place on Friday, October 24th.  I am soo excited!!

On November 5th I need to take my husband to Henry Ford Hospital for a PET Scan...  I am not sure how long I will need to be on my feet.  My husband has Brain Cancer (Gioblastoma MultiForme grade IV).  He isn't able to drive and can't walk well.. so I will be doing the Driving (from the Lansing area) and have to push him in a wheel chair.

do you think I will be feeling up to being up and about that soon?

I will be back to work on October 27th... but I have a very sedate desk job... I can just sit all day if I need to.

I will need to take snack items... like protein drink mixes... right?

Anyone else out there Lab Banders??

Thanks for your input, and help.

I did not have a band, but my secretary did on 8/26.  She was back to work the following Monday with no problem.  She was a little sore.  She was driving the next day.

The only thing I would be worried about is pushing the wheel chair.

Best of Luck.  You will love the staff at Barix.

You should be fine, Pangie.  I am a nurse and was back at work full time in less than a week.  Join us over on the lapband board, too, when you have lapband-specific questions.

i had surgery on Tuesday and by Saturday I was pushing a stroller with two kids at the fair. The hardest part was resisting popcorn and caramel apples :-)  Is there anyway someone could transfer your DH from the car to the w/c and push the w/c?  Does the hospital you are going to have a transport team?  You should be able to pull up to the front door and check in the lobby for help.

as far as what to take to work...I took Special K protein water mixes (the kind you add to water bottles).  Slim fast.  Carnation instant breakfast.  SF FF pudding made with double milk (1 cup milk with 1 serving powder milk to double protein).   SF jello.  and lots of water.  I also like True Lemon (it's sold near the Splenda in my grocery store).  Once I was on mushies refried beans with ground round/cheese/sour cream was one of my favorites to take for lunch.  Also turkey sausage/cheese/egg beater omlets blended in the magic bullet is yummy.
