Even though you found a therapist, I would like to recommend someone for future reference. She is a bariatric patient herself (5-6 years post-op RNY) and specializes in bariatric patients. She offers pre and post-op therapy as well as does psychological evaluations for insurance companies.

After giving birth at U of M, I decided that I'd rather go some place else for my surgery.
I can't figure out how to change the surgeons. If you know, please tell me.
Nevermind, figured it out...

Topic: RE: Anyone heard about Dr Mark Pleatman in Michigan
I don't know Dr. Pleatman personally. I had my surg at UofM as my sis had very good experience there and ultimately I did too.
However, when I first addressed the possiblity of WLS with my PCP, Dr. Pleatman was one of the local surgeons she suggested.
Sorry, I know that wasn't much help.

So, you were going to go through U of M and now selected Henry Ford? Your surgeon on your postings still says Dr. Birkmeyer.....

I'm going through Henry Ford Hospital. I just found out on Friday that they send you to their own bariatric therapist at the hospital. So I don't have to worry about finding some random therapist.
When I was going through the WLS process back in 2008 before I got pregnant, the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti had you go through your own therapist so that's why I wondered.
I get to speak with the Bariatric nurse on Monday to go over everything. Super excited.

If you are going through U of M, you should call their bariatric clinic.. They set up the psych eval for those going through their program.

Topic: RE: Mid Michigan Walk from Obesity-----this Sunday!
thanks for the info Shelly.
I would have loved to do the walk and was hoping for an earlier start.
I won't be able to make it, but if you hear of events like this again, please post. I live in Brighton so E. Lansing is an easy drive for me.
Thanks again.
