Hello all of my lovely ladies ( and gents ) I have 3 days to go til my surgery and was wondering what the hospital stay will be like. I know they say you will be sipping and walking alot. But besides that, what did you do?  Sleep alot I am guessing. I think back to my three c sections and and how horribly bored I was on even day number two. Of course, not bored with the new baby hehe but I just cant seem to sit still and just " watch tv" or whatever.
Did anyone bring anything to keep themselves occupied in the hospital?  My mind is racing.
I am trying to get my stuff all packed and my house clean today. Just in case the bowel prep keeps me busy for the next few days. Looking forward to that for breakfast tomorrow.

Check to see if your hospital has wi-fi...you could possibly have a laptop.  Don't expect to sleep a lot while you are in...they will keep waking you up.

Walking and TV watching are always an option...I brought a book but couldn't concentrate on reading.    If you are having LAP...your time in the hospital will go very fast and you'll be home before you know it.

My biggest advice is to bring a back scratcher and chapstick.  Others will have suggestions...

Good Luck

Natalie~I agree with Paul there wasn't a whole lot of sleeping when I was in the hospital either because they are always checking on you and getting you up for walks and sipping water.  I brought a book, which I read a little, but mostly just vegged out and watched TV.  I also packed my portable cd player or if you have an ipod or mp3 player so you can listen to music.  Some things I found handy were: my own slippers for walking in, some loose, comfy pajama pants and possibly top to put on after they let you shower, lotion, your own shampoo, conditioner and body wash and loose, comfy clothes to wear home.  I hope that the bowel prep goes well, I was suprised at how easy it was.  Only a couple more days and we will be scootin' on down the bench to make room for you!

I'm a day after you! I'm bringing:
comfy lightweight pj's and short robe, slippers, moisturizer, lip balm, scented body lotion, i-pod, knitting (never go anywhere without my knitting!), ear plugs, a new magazine, and my cellphone.

They told us in pre op class that we could use cellphones in the lounge down the hall, and that there was a computer there, too.

I brought a book, some crossword puzzles and my MP3 player, too, but didn't use them much.  I brought my own comfy pillow, but in a colored pillow case so they didn't think it was theirs.    I brought Chapstick, too, but they had the rest of what I needed.  Oh, and a bathrobe would be good, too, so you don't walk down the halls exposing anything you don't mean to,

Hee hee - yup, whatever!  They'll probably just attribute it to the drugs you're on.

The best things I brought were puzzle books. I did not use one of them or even flip a page. However, My family kept busy with them and left me to rest! LOL  I did the sip sip and mostly walking around in my room, one long walk in the hall, they were amazed I walked that far on my first walk and never bothered me past that about walking. Chapstick was/is a must have.
I wish you the best of luck!!
