Did you get your own room?  I was reading some of the hospital material and saw you might share a room. SHARE? !  UGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!  I've been in the hospital 3 times between 2 c-sections and an appendectemy (sp?) and always had my own room.  I don't want to share.

Hey Kristy, II was at FVSD, and I believe  for WLS they had all private rooms.  I may be wrong, though was fortunate to not have a roommate if it hadn't been a private room.  Check with the clinic to verify, and if there aren't automatic private rooms, I'd request one at the pre-registration.  Each individual processes their pain differently, and I empathize with your not wanting to 'share' it with a roommate, or to even have a roommate making the first couple days tougher than they need to be.  Best of the best to you.  Advocate for yourself, be strong, be brave, and do not be afraid to ask for what you want or need dear!  Hugs, Patti

Tell u the truth it depends how busy they are.  I had mine at the U it was spose to be at the campus but they moved it to southside (or somthing like that)  I HATED IT!!  I was prepared to be giveng great care by nurse when did nothing but delt with WLs PT. but nooo. my first night i was awoken by my roommated IV pole beeping.  called a nurse to fix it and to give me some happy med.  Half hour lated my goes off so i called again 2 hours later someone finaly shows.  my frist roomy was so old lady who broke a hip and my next roomy was their becuse she may or may not have a gallbladder problem. boy did she was always on the phone.  I admit i was rude to here she couldnt eat anything but still had a stomach  so i watch the food network.  sorry i am ranting.

I am sure others have had a good time.

I went through the Fairview program and had my own room.  It seems to me that all rooms in the WLS section were private - had larger furniture, bathroom, etc. for WLS patients.  I would call the WLS office to find out.  Good luck with your surgery!

I was through PN and I had my own room.  Oddly enough I had what my Dr called the "Princess Suite"  I thought it only fitting because of what a Princess I am!  ^_^

I dont think people share rooms for this.
Just a day at a time...  thats all you can do.

Be your own advocate!!  Tell them up front I WANT MY OWN ROOM!!!!  I didn't and when I had mine at FSD they were remodeling so I had a roomate who could eat!!!  I immediately (literally) cried and complained and told them I MUST BE MOVED OR ELSE. I THEN got my own suite.  Lay the law honey!!!

At Fairview University, they have a mix of private and semi private rooms.  When I pre registered for admission, I asked to be placed in a private room.  I was told it depends on availability-- and as it turned out, I had a roommate during my stay.  Not too bad, but a private room would have been much better.

Be aware that many insurance programs will only cover semi private rooms if they are available.  Check your policy!

I was at the U and had to share, some insurance companies will only pay for semi private so check with your policy. I tell you what though my roomy was nice enough but again like someone else posted she could eat!!! and all she did was complain about how they would not let her eat or that she was not getting enough to eat.
I did a lot of sleeping because that just sucked

Heya girlie. As you know I just had my surgery and yes, I did have my own room. I was talking with one of the nurses about it and she said that gastric bypass patients always get there own room. And there didn't seem to be any remodeling going on, so I think you will be ok. Just keep in mind your insurance may not cover you being moved up to a private room if you happened to get a shared room, so *IF* that's the case (which it probably won't be!!) then be prepared to pay a little more. But I'm about 99.9% sure you will have your own room, so don't worry
