Oh, yes.  My Christmas meal last year was beef broth and sf jello.  Look up some WLS recipes and plan ahead.  Search on the site and internet for some ideas on what you can have that is bariatric friendly.

My dear friend Nicole lent me a book called "Before and After" and it has tons of recipes in it.  I'll bring it to work tomorrow and head over to your neck of the woods so you can take a look at it.  Assuming you are working!  :)

I decided that I was not ready to face my entire family.. so instead I am having my mom and step dad over to my house so that I do not have to deal with everyone this year. I think I am also going to try to get my mom to have christmas at her house so that I have my first set of holidays with out the whole bunch of us.. (i have a large family)

I am bringing my own food. A little sad that I won't be able to have all the good stuff, but glad at the same time.

I know there will be other Thanksgivings where I will be able to eat some of the stuff, just in smaller portions.

At 6 weeks, you should be on soft/semi soft, right?
So-- turkey, well cooked veggies, mashed potato, baked sweet potato,
SF pumpkin dessert (I'm baking the pie this year using Splenda, and will not eat crust)--
I'm going to miss dressing for sure, but can deal with that.

Been there done that..... Mine was christmans last year I could eat pudding and jello.  I cried like a baby, got mad and frustrated at everyone but then realized i did this for a reason and I wasn't gonna let the food get to me.  Everyone pigged out and had belly aches after that while I was perfectly fine.  I enjoyed watching them moan and groan and for once it wasb't me.  It does get easier at least for me anyways.  Good luck to you sweetie and if ya ever need anything just let me know.......

Yikes, feeling badly for you...however, we need to take the 'food' focus out of any holidays. Focus on the many things other than comforting foods which truly make you happy.  Hopefully at this point you will be able to see something-- honestly, I hope so.  During my full-liquid phase several years ago in August, I'd enjoyed strained cream of chicken or celery soup, to which I'd added poultry seasoning.  Wow, if that didn't taste like Thanksgiving turkey and dressing...to this day, I make pumpkin pie custard, using my fave Festal pumpkin and the recipe on the can.  I use fat-free evaporated milk, substitute 1/2 - 3/4 cup Splenda for the sugar, and make it laden with spices!  Mmmmmmm...I put it into a glass 8" x 8" pan, nuke it for fifteen minutes, and VOILA!  It's definitely sufficient 'pie with crust and whipped cream' replacement.  Occasionally I enjoy a sweet potato (or, if you prefer a yam) nuked, and add butter or Molly McButter only--it's plenty sweet enough for my taste.  I'm not certain but may have even seen Jello s/f cranberry jello--honestly unsure, though that would be a viable option to fill out a nice Thanksgiving WLS-friendly meal.  Best wishes to you, and hopefully this will give you good ideas to not feel deprived on your first post-surgery Thanksgiving!  Hugs and blessings, Patti

It's all about your perspective. I am still waiting on surgery approval and I love Thanksgiving dinner & dessert way too much and already dread the overstuffed, painful feeling to come. Do you remember that feeling?

See, while everyone else is stuffing their pie hole's, you are in control for probably what has been a very long time. You get to sit back and hear them grumble about being too full. I think it might be bittersweet in a way.

But, what do I know? I've just been waiting for surgery for 2 years...and can only imagine...

Good luck!

I am 2 weeks out today and guessing he will let me go pureed tomorrow at my 2 wk post op appt. My plan though is easy. Cream of chicken, a tiny bit of mash potato and gravy and for desert I plan to warm some cinnamon apple sauce. Should suffice. Also we don't plan to stay long like usual so I think that will help on the grazing end...Have a great Holiday!!
