What pain meds did you go home on?

I got sent hom with Hydrocodone 7.5 liquid and wonder if there is something better for pain. I've been delaying taking it on regular intervals because it's so gross tasting and smelling.  Do they give you liquid instead of a pill for better/ quicker absorbsion?  I do fine taking pills.  Just pondering if I should call and ask for something else, or if I have the liquid because it's better for us after surgery.

Men- IGNORE....

On top of the tummy pain & gas pains, I'm having what seem to be PMS cramps probably thanks to the IUD my OB placed before my RNY.  I'm DYING to take some Advil. GRRRRRR !

I was given Roxicet (Oxycodone with Acetaminophen) 5ml to 10ml every 4 hours as needed.  I took this for a few days and then switched to liquid Tylenol.   I don't normally take pain meds so this stuff was way to powerful for me and when I took it I would just pass out and get nothing accomplished.

Hey there.  Well what kind of pain are you having.  I got sent home on the same medication as you.  I had the pain in my new tummy and it got worst when I eat or drank or walked around.  They told me it was gas they put in me.  And some didnt go out of my new tummy.  It lasted like 10 days then I had nothing.  It will get better I promise.

I had Roxicet liquid, too.  I was not to swallow any pills for 2-3 weeks. The pain meds and the BP meds weren't so bad, but the antibiotic (crushed and in applesauce or pudding) was awful!

I got the same crap. It did not work for for me and I ask for and got regular pain pills which I split in half before I took them. That worked for me.

I got that stuff too and it made me sick.  I got switched to Tylenol with codeine and that worked well for me.  Helped me sleep.  If you are having trouble with the pain meds, I would call and get them swtiched.  I really was glad I had mine to help me sleep and take the pain away then.  How is everything else going?

I ended up calling the office and got a prescription for the pill form. Much better, no gagging.  The only thing thats been making me gag is that liquid pain medicine. I do fine with all liquids, pills and foods tried so far. (Mainly pureed soup, then strained and yogurt)  I really liked the no sugar added CIB before surgery, now it's too sweet. The SF pudding and jello I don't like any more either.  I know you said your tastes particularly with sweet will change. I didn't believe you.   Hugs!!

I was sent home with Dilaudid, which is a really tiny little pill. It seemed to work quickly for me. I was able to switch to liquid Tylenol by Day 6.
