What do you eat?

Hello two months and learning about food all over!

I'm having a tricky time with food.

Pretty much everyday I have some cream of wheat and then some beans or tuna, then dinner is like whatever I pick off of my husbands plate...

What do you all do for foods?

Advice would be fantastic.
Just a day at a time...  thats all you can do.

Figuring out what 'works' is often very individual, and often involves lots of trial and error.  Some folks find that what works well one day, may not work another.  I've been very lucky, in that almost everything I've tried works well.  Here's a typical day for me (at 4 months)
B: scrambled egg, 1/4 slice toast with SF jam OR 1/2 c Irish oatmeal with a little skim milk and splenda

L:  1/4 c tuna salad made with LF mayo and a litle pickle relish, 3 whole wheat crackers, 1/2 tangerine

D: 1/4 sliced roast chicken, 1/4 cooked vegetable

3-4 times a week I have a CLICK protein drink.

My surgeon does not like his patients to 'drink' their calories, and discourages snacking, UNLESS we are exercising, then can have one high protein snack a day.

Other food options for you at this stage:
Chili - high in protein
Tuna, salmon, other moist fish
Roast or baked chicken, most other meats-depending on how you tolerate them.  I find that meats cooked in a crockpot tend to be more moist, and easier to digest
Well cooked vegetables
Soft raw fruits- I stayed away from other raw fruits until about 3 months out, then the dietician gave me the go-ahead.
Cheese-- low fat or regular, depending on your program's advice.  I use the Babybel cheeses as 'on the go' protein sources if I am out and about.
Yogurt- especially Fage, or other Greek style yogurts, as they are higher in protein.

I followed the PNC guide book and talked to my NUT about it. Now that I'm a year out things are different.

When I was first out I ate lots of cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, beans, tuna and whatever creamy stuff was good for me.
I found lots of meals I could make for my whole family that were good for me AND my family on www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

Her's is a wonderful site and you can page through her last 3 years of posted recipes. Lots of yummy WLS friendly and healthy stuff there!
Good luck to you and don't worry, it get easier! Through trial and error you'll figure out what agrees with you and what doesn't.

Heidi

Hey Girl!
Yep at 2 months I think I was doing a lot of cottage cheese- I followed the PNC little book- now at 8 months I still do a lot of cottage cheese and yogurt- sometimes meats still do not sit well with me- but I do try them in different ways
