Valerie - keep us posted and we are sending prayers your way!  I've found the most support here as well right now although my family rocks it's different talking to people who have been there.  I wish mine was today too!  Take care of you and let us know how it goes!

My mom kind of did the same thing she felt obligated to be there not that she wanted to be there to support me.  As soon as I was done with surgery and things looked ok she left.  Again I think some people act like this because of their own fears and own issues nothing to do with us but we have to kind of deal with it anyway.  She'll come around eventually but the first few months are going to be tough just try to focus on you and not worry about her acceptance right now.
