Back to the ER this week

I woke up Sunday morning with a vague sense of heaviness and slight pain across my lower abdomen.  Thought I might be constipated, so tried a Dulcolox tab.  Had 'results' late Sunday night, but no relief in pain; in fact, the pain got worse.  I called my surgeon's office Monday morning, and they sent me to the ER.  Diagnosis:  diverticulitis.  Of all the things I thought it might be, that was no where on my list!  Sent me home with two antibiotics and pain meds.

Still feeling mostly lousy,- certainly no appetite, and it's a struggle to get fluids in.

On a positive note, I orderd a new jacket to wear for business trips-- it's fitted, ivory, and a size Large fits perfectly!  Not even an "X" on that label!

Hopefully the pain subsides with the pain meds! That really sucks! Lower abdomen pain can really take it out of ya... it does for me anyway... I feel like I can't function.

I hope you rest up and feel better soon!

Congrats on the new jacket - it sounds beautiful! It's nice not to see an X on the label, hehe. You deserve it!

Is  diverticulitis one of those things that comes back again, or once and done? (hopefully)  I wish you well in a hurry, I hate any sort of stomach discomfort.

How cool to get out of the sizes with an  X anything - I bet you're so excited about that!

My understanding is that once you have 'diverticula', you always have them, but diverticulitis is actually an infection-- diverticula are little pouches in the large intestine, when small particles (say small seeds or nuts) become lodged in the, it can cause the infection-- thus the pain, and need for antibiotics.

So-- keep on with that Benefiber!
