me again...

I need an endocrinologist, does anyone have a good recommendation?  I'm sort of at the beginning of this and recently diagnosed with a dodgy thyroid, my Dr just put me on Synthroid and pushed me out the door with little explanation, but with more research I found out I might need more calcium etc...I'd rather just deal with an endo than with my familky Dr.

I live in Western burbs of Minneapolis...so anywhere in Minneapolis is good...St Paul is a wee bit too far.

thanks

p.s. I'm pretty new to MN so I really dont know anyone to ask about this

Rebecca Mattison, Mpls. clinic of Endrocrinology (something like that) in Edina on York Ave.  She is fabulous.  I promise you'll like her.  She is the smartest, most real doctor I've ever been to see.

Hello! Dr. Lynn Burmeister @ the U of M  is INCREDIBLE.  Not necisarrily good with the 1st impression, as she's rather quiet & studious/ not overly gregarious,  but she is always thinking of what is going to be best for you as a person...  Also, her big specialty/ main focus is thyroid.  I currently am under her care and couldn't be happier.  She's NOT one that will call you with results, however, she DOES send a very long & detailed letter to you after all is said and done, and you can always come in and see her should you need face to face time- however, do not expect her to personally call you back should you leave a message.  She's an incredibly intelligent woman/ doctor, and you can see the wheels turning when you're talking with her (which may come across as not the best "bedside manner" per se.) If you choose to go with her you will NOT be disappointed- also, make absolutely sure that you have EVERYTHING with your records sent to her in advance or hand deliver as it will throw things for a loop when you get there and take longer to get answers.  I wish you all the best!
