After meeting with surgeon usually how long until surgery?
I think my surgery was about a month or so after I finally met with the surgeon!
At PNC, they submit to insurance as soon as you finish your pre-op requirements. Once you are approved they will schedule your surgeon visit. At the surgeon visit they schedule surgery. Fairview may do it differently.
My approval took about a week, got in to the surgeon about 2 weeks after approval, surgery is 4-1/2 weeks after surgeon appt. It all really depends on how full the schedule is. Dr. Jones is taking a vacation in early March or I would probably be able to get in earlier. He said that in January he was scheduling 11 days out.
Good luck!

I'm going through Abbott Northwestern and have requested Dr. Drew.
So far I've gone to the intro seminar and have seen my dietitian once. I sent in my packet of info last Saturday. I have my psych eval appt for late march and that's when I see my dietitian again.
Once I have my eval done and have my ppwk in, is the next step meeting with the surgeon?
After that point, it sounds like surgery is typically scheduled about 1-2 months after that. Is this true?

I have BCBS. I had a consult with the surgeon before I started the 6 months of supervised diet. After that was done, my paperwork was submitted and I was scheduled to meet with the surgeon 10 days after that, provided it was approved I guess. It was submitted on a Tuesday, I found out on Saturday I was approved (got a letter in the mail) and met the surgeon on Thurs (Feb 26). I scheduled my surgery that day and all they had open was March 24. I know others who I went to the first seminar with who are done and a few months out already, so just depends on insurance. Well worth the wait. I'm rather glad I worked with the dietitian for 6 months, that helps me to be prepared for the after surgery days.
I got a letter from my surgeon's office today.
They sent me the checklist for what I have to do and this is what it said!!
* I need to make an appointment to see their dietitian.
* I have to have my psych eval which I already have scheduled for March 25th. I should probably schedule follow-ups now while there are openings.
* They said I can make my surgeon consultation appointment!!!
* They also said that my insurance (Medica) says I DON'T need to see a dietitian for 6 or even 3 months since my BMI is over 40 and I have a comorbid (sleep apnea). I just have to supply evidence from my sleep study to them.
I'm so excited!!!
