I started my Preop Diet (3 Shakes and one tiny ass meal) yesterday and just that fast.....

Everything around me smells SOFA KING GOOD!

Someine was peeling an orange and on a normal day I would not care, but today I swear every DNA strand of Orange Zest traveled right to my nose.

I wanted to pull out the  and snatch his Orange, Jr. High style.

What's worse is that my neighbor in the office eats raw Green Peppers everyday and I talk about his azz on the daily because I hate Green Peppers.

Today, I would eat that bytch like it was a Krispy Kreme.

WOOOOOOOOO SAAAAAAAAAAAA

It's going to be a LONG 6 weeks, bu****ch me do this shyt!

Yep! Very normal... the first 2-3 days of the pre-op diet were the hardest for me... but then my body got used to it. When your mind isn't so concentrated on taste... it starts using all the other senses to the extreme I think! I could smell things very vividly... it was interesting.

So keep using your sniffer.....and hopefully you won't pick up too many nasty smells...

It doesn't help that all the cable stations and network affiliates get a APB whenever someone starts a liquid diet, telling them to run all food-related commercials 24/7.

But you, Juice, have what it takes to stick it to temptation.  To lose the pounds your surgeon wants you to lose pre-op.

If the scents get to be too much, just rub a lil' Vicks Vap-O-Rub under your nose.  It'll kill the smells trying to reach your brain.  And if you eat a dab of that "shyt", I'm pretty sure it'll qualify as a liquid.

ROFL I know exactly how you feel. The first few days were hell. Literally. I didn't think it would be that bad, but now that's gotten a bit nicer out and people are grilling.....I just want to go rip their arm off and beat them with it and blow up their grill. Everything bothers me now, even stuff I didn't like to begin with. Like corn dogs. I was at my sis' house and my neice was eating one, I had to go for a walk just to get away!

6 weeks, huh?  Does your surgeon want you to drop about 50? That's what I'd estimate you'll lose during this time.

The first few days ARE the hardest BY FAR!  You will want to eat stuff that had never interested you in the past.  The Vaporub idea is a good one. I found my senses were always hightened when doing a liquid diet. I've had my fair shares of self inflicted VLCD in the past.  You can totally do it.  Just come here to gripe as needed.  OH, and big time, practice chewing that one small meal to death!  I am paying now for not practicing that as instructed pre op.

BELIEVE ME I know what you speak.

I brought a big crossword puzzle book for the hotel room in the evenings to keep busy.

I think I may run 20 miles down the road to the wal mart and get me some vapo"liquid". hehehe

Hey man,

I totally remember where you are at right now.  Though I didn't have to do the liquid thing like you do.  I did have to reduce my calories a lot though.  That sucked!  But, like you, I was determined to get the required weight off.

I know that you can do this!  You have the determination.  It is amazing how things you hate sound so good when you are pining for a meal!  You won't feel that way after surgery.  Keep up the determination!
