Some WOW moments
At 7 months out, I'm looking back-- seems like a short time ago, I was heading into surgery.
Now, I'm 106 pounds lighter-- where did that person go?
I went shopping for new dress pants ( first time in the 'regular' department). Tried on a pair of sz 16- thought they were pretty good, comfortable-- hmm, maybe 'too comfortable'-- so tried on the 14s-- and they fit!
Uusually, when I go to to the gym, I'm just heading back home, so haven't used the showers there. Last week, I was getting a haircut right afterwards, so showered at the club-- and the (skimpy looking) towel fit all the way around! I was practically in tears with relief-- had take two towels, just in case!
This week, I bought my first pair of jeans since high school-- absolutely amazing!
I feel so much better, and have more energy now. Taking a flight of stairs is second nature to me now-- I don't have to haul myself up by the railing, and goign downstairs doesn't hurt my knee anymore. People tell me all the time that they can see the energy level difference, as well my changed appearance.
Overall, my health is good, I no longer take blood pressure medications, and I feel terrific! I've had a couple of bumps along the way, starting with a complicated surgical procedure that lasted 6 1/2 hrs instead of an hour, and an initial hospital stay of 6 days rather then the 2 1/2 days I planned on. This was followed by an ER visit and re-admission for a seroma, and to rule out a liver abscess (no abcess, just needed to pack part of my incision until it healed). Then, last month, another trip to the ER, with a diagnosis of diverticulosis-- easily managed with pain meds, and antibiotics.
My 6 month follow up with Dr. Ikramuddin was great-- he says I'm doing everything perfectly-- and he's happy with my results so far.
I'd do it all again in a heartbeat! Many thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support-- will get to coffee again soon!
