13 days till Surgery...Few questions left to ask???
Hope some of you can help me anser some of these questions:
* What Items should you have at home when you get home from Hospital to make Post-Op easier?
* What Vitiamins are you on Post -Op?
*Would you recommend getting my Gullbladder removed at the same time as WLS?
* What would you recommend for Protien during LD Post-Op?
Anything Else you might add that would be helpful????
Thanks for reading and answering any questions above!
5'2
Highest Weight 218.9
Day of Surgery I was 204.6
So far Post Op I am 143
Food: I bought what they had on the list - chicken broth, jello and pudding, cream soups, cream of wheat, carnation instant breakfast. I bought enough to last me two weeks.
Vitamins: I'm taking Bariatric Advantage vitamins, calcium, iron and B12 from Bariatriceating.com. They have an automatic refill plan every three months so you don't have to remember to pick them up.
Gallbladder: Dr. Benn said they would look at the gallbladder during the surgery. He saw that it was healthy and left it. Talk with Dr. Pierce about this.
Protein: I drink EAS Advantage Low Carb protein ready to drink cartons. I get them at Sam's Club. 17 g protein per 11 oz drink.
Take to the hospital: Chapstick, toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, brush. I spent most of the time sleeping or dozing, watching TV and walking the halls. Didn't need anything else.
Good luck and soon you'll take a seat next to us on the bench! Dolly
* What Vitiamins are you on Post -Op? B12 sublingual, Women days vitamins, Calcium pills, and vitamin D
*Would you recommend getting my Gullbladder removed at the same time as WLS? Yes
* What would you recommend for Protien during LD Post-Op? I used the Wheybolic 60 from GNC which has 60 grams of protein, milk, No sugar added carniation instant breakfast. Those were the most protein I used in the beginning.
Anything Else you might add that would be helpful???? I would suggest that in the hopsital to have chap stick, and I loved having my own blanket. While at home make sure you are walking and doing as much as you can without straining yourself. Also know that at first you will not be able to get in all the water so don't stress about that it will come. Also with water room temperature in the beginning goes down better.
I think you will do great! It was nice to finally meet you on Saturday!
Wishing you all the best!!
The first day home I only got in 48oz of liquid but the second I got 78oz of liquid and 94g protein and the third day post op I got 74oz lig and 88 grams of protein. If you are not sleeping or eating you should be sipping and that's exactly what I was doing. I got the Alpine Punch and Grape frost Isopure from GNC (40g pro per 20oz bottle). I also put Women's Whey Protein Powder in my pudding. I am only on my flinstones vitamin until my 3 week check up - then they put me on the b12, calcium and all the rest of the stuff.
Hope this helps!
