So many Newbies on the boards!!!

I've been excited to see all the new people on the boards lately just seems like we are getting a lot of people who just recently had surgery or are on their way to surgery.

I've noticed a lot of people posting about not losing weight a few weeks after surgery or not sure if they have lost enough weight in the first few weeks.   I had this worry too when I was new and so today I pulled out my spreadsheet that I used to track my weight progress.   I just charted on there when ever I weighed myself (some times every day others 1x a week depending on my mood).   What I noticed was a lot of times I had just lost 1 lb here or 2 lbs there once in a while it was a 5 lb loss other times it was even a 3 lb gain.   But in time it all has added up to where I'm at today 135 lbs lighter.   It can be a little frustrating to only see the scale go down 1 or 2 lbs in the beginning but believe me it just all starts adding up!

Iv noticed that when I go to see my doctors at St Joes. Lots of new people........ I think maybe because its summer and people start looking at their weight more. Im happy to be here you all seem great! Not many questions now but after surgery im sure I will have a ton

Thanks Kathy for the reassurance!  I had my 1month RN appointment on Tuesday and I had "only" lost 20 pounds.  How crazy is that thinking!?!  When was the last time I lost 20 pounds in a month?  It does get frustrating to see the numbers not budging or going UP &*)&*^&*(!!! but I have to put it in perspective and realize that I am not going to lose a pound a day every day and look at the total amount and how I feel.

It is so easy to get hung up on the numbers and I haven't gotten to the point of hiding my scale, but I am sure that will happen soon enough!

Amelia,

Your doing great 20 lbs in a month is wonderful!!!!!   But I totally understand the frustration you just kind of want to wake up from surgery and instantly be a 100 lbs lighter.
