SMOKING

Im a non smoker but my boyfriend currently smokes.  If they run a nictine test will they see anything in my system for being around him.

I don't know.  I am a non-smoker and they didn't take a nicotine test (as far as I know).  I don't know if it is a routine thing to do if you are a non-smoker.   I would ask the question - it is better to be informed than surprised!

I've heard that if Dr. Lederer smells smoke on your breath he will cancel your surgery.  He is very adamate about that.  If you are not a smoker, I wouldn't worry about it.  He does not conduct a nicotine test on his patients.  If you are concerned, tell him your situation.  He is fair.

He says he cancels, but I don't know for sure if he has ever followed through.  Maybe if someone here can attest to this...  I think he indeed wants to scare the bjebbies out of the smokers, and wants to know that they are serious enough to quit before having to deal with surgery.
