Surgery Date

You have my number, what you do is call me when you feel up to it after your surgery, and I will update the MN board on how you are doing.

Fake nails? Call your surgeons office to check first. They are the best one's to check with. I know you cannot have nail polish on, but if they are clear acrylics/gels, you may be okay.

Do you have a liquid diet to do before surgery? If so, be sure to post here when it gets tough. We'll all do our best to keep you in line & focused!

I have a pre-op class on the 11th - and I guess they tell us there what we have to do.  I believe the only liquid diet is the day prior to the surgery they only want you having clear liquids...   My nut said that they believe it's important to have good nutrition right up to the surgery and starving yourself does not give the doctor the healthiest possible scenario?

I'm not going to argue with that logic! 

I think I will have the nails taken off just in case.. I can get them put back on the week following the surgery.  I'm sure I will be bored and need something mindless like that to do :)

Congrats on having a date - and it's right around the corner!!!  Start your new habits NOW if you haven't already, it'll just give you a leg-up on things once you're on the OTHER SIDE!!!

I sincerely mean it too!  I read on the boards that people are eating bread, crackers, candy, cake, soda... several months after the surgery and I GROAN...

One thing this six month waiting period has done for me is that it has given me the time to read, read, read.... what the successful people are doing that makes them successful.

The common thread among them seems to be adherence to the rules.  I want to be a successful person!  I'm not getting roto-rootered so that I can eat that junk any more!

That date is coming up fast...I am so thrilled for you.  I go to my pre-op class 6-23-09.  You are in my prayers!!!!

Congrats,  I go 6/10/09 for my RNY.

I'm so nervous,  but excited at the same time.  I have to do 10 days protein liquid diet.  This is going to be a struggle but I guess the first of many.
