Good Morning All,

Anyone have Dr Ikramuddin as their surgeon?:

I am having an Upper Endoscopy tomorrow morning to see the condition of my pouch and stoma.....

After that, he will decide which type or revision to have....if any....

I had an RNY surgery 25 yrs ago.....and have now gained all of my weight back.....so desperately am hoping for a revision.

Have a wonderful day !

I have not, but he was my father's surgeon many years ago and saved his life.

I am not going through the U of M for my surgery, but if I was I would have gone through him.

He is one of the best in the field.

I had Dr. Ikramuddin and he is one of the best.!  He came highly recommended to me by another physician, who chose him to operate on her husband (non WLS).  He is very thorough, and takes time to answer all questions.

If you are not happy with Ikramuddin's answers on a revision I would also consult with Dr Buchwald.  He is a wonderful surgeon as well.  Buchwald takes on very difficult cases that other surgeons will not touch, so there is another option for you.  What revision are you thinking?  Are you looking at revising to a DS?  If so either surgeon would be fine to consult with.  Good Luck.

Olaf, Dana, Marie, and Jennifer,

Thank you all for you wonderful answers to my post.

I had my Upper Endoscopy yesterday.  Dr Ikramuddin said my pouch is about 75 cc and my stoma is wide open at about 2 cm.

What does this mean?  Not sure....all I know is that I sure can eat a lot more than 75 cc at one meal.....And this is with drinking protein first.....yadayada...

He said to diet for a month and come and see him.

I am going to call his asst today and ask to talk with him in the next few days.....I need to know if I am a candidate for a revision....before I go see the Pschyce and my primary and do all that I need to do to get insurance approval.

As to which revision, if any.....My health and predisposition to gall stones in the bile ducts is a big concern when looking at making my RNY more malaborbing.....and.....he never mentioned the DS.....he did mention the Band.

So.....1st.....does he feel a revision is for me......2nd.....if so what kind.....3rd....if he says no.....then what.....

Another day in limbo.....lol

Thanks again all!!

Marcia

For revision cases, my suggestion will always be for a consult with Dr. Buchwald at the UofM Physicians. No doubt about it!

He & Dr. Ikrammudin are in the same building.

Dr. Buchwald did my revision.  My revision was from lap band to DS.  He did a great job and I would recommend him to anyone looking at revision surgery.
