Pre op liquid diet head ache
I dont know if I can tell you how to get rid of it or not. I only had to be on liquid diet for one day before the surgery. It may be that you are having withdrawal fof sugar or caffiene? Could this be possible. I once a long time ago decided to go off coffee and go to decaffienated coffee. At the end of about 13 hours I had a horrible headache. Please let me know how you continue to do. Colette
I also struggled with the headaches as well.. which is why I changed my pre-op diet up some to 3 shakes a day and a light dinner..like salad and a piece of meat. That was it. but it helped. I'm sure it is the lack of sugar in you're diet.
Keep trying. I hope you feel better.

I was talking with my hubby this morning and he thought your headache could be caused from dehydration. Are you sure you're getting enough water in your liquid diet? He's a Scout Master so he knows a lot about dehydration and what the symptoms can be.
Hope your headache gets better soon and I'm still hoping we can actually meet before your surgery!

Hey~
2 days before my surgery my doctor said she wasn't worried about the liquid diet with me because my liver was not that big she didn't think. BUT when I was on it I did get the headaches and they say to STOP the ibuprofen now. You can only have Tylenol. Atleast that is what I was told in the pre-op class is that the ibuprofen will give you an ulcer after the surgery and possible complications before. I would stick with the Tylenol. That is what I used and I also have migraines too. Those are hell! Anyway, I hope I was able to help.
Everyone gave you really good sound advice... When I had to go through the liquid diet phase preop I found that my headaches worsened with the reduction of carbs. Carbs can be evil little boogers in excess but we DO have to have some for "fuel" for our bodies to function. If the other ideas don't work for you and you find you are still battling headaches you might want to make sure that you are getting some good carbs in you..... Those folks that used to do carb restrictive diets like the old stand by (atkins) often found themselves battling headaches as well... Wishing you nothing but the best... hang in there! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Elizabeth--------------->
