No RNY for me
Hello everyone. I have my first consulation meeting with the surgeon. Five minutes into the meeting I knew my surgery was in trouble. I expected this but held out hope that it would work out. He flat out told me that it would be too dangerous to do the RNY. The Lap-Band is a go so I'm talking to myself and trying to be positive. For the past 6 months I have been learning everything about the RNY and I was more than comfortable with the surgery. I know very little about the Lap-Band, so I need to get busy and research the surgery. Are there any Lap-Banders in our group? I check the Lap-Band forum as it's not a very active group, at least compared to our group here. All but one of my pre-op requistions are complete, but now the surgeon wants a sleep study so I'll go on Tuesday evening for that. The surgery will be done around the end of August, once they receive the written approval we will move forward. I havent had a lot of computer time lately, but I will try very hard to catch up today. Take care everyone! Trudy
what weere the reasons for him saying that it would be too dangerous?
A lot of surgeons , I hate to say , are doing the lap bands becasue the are quick and they can make as much off of them as the other and there is a product being sold there that as we all know they get kick backs from.
Not to discourage you but that is why a lot of them are pushing them. We do have several lap banders on here and some are doing really well others arent.
