I am 2 years out from my surgery. No more weight to lose but I think I have developed an ulcer due to some heavy duty medication I'm on for chronic sinusitis. Does anyone out there know if ulcers can cause more complications due to having had gastric bypass.?Who do I call- so far just doing over the counter meds but getting more miserable by the hour.

If you are unable to contact your surgeon I'd recommend Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia.  He has done surgery on so many of the folks on the board and he wouldn't be too far from you - or Missouri Bariatrics in Columbia. Hugs, Lana

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Hi!

I deffinately agree that you should contact your doctor right away. Ulcers can cause a lot of problems if untreated, even if you haven't had WLS. Though your stomach is healed, when you develop an ulcer, it can eat through the healed incision line, and can cause a perforation in that area. If you do not contact your surgeon, you should at least contact your regular family physician. He too might be able to put you on something a little stronger for the ulceration. No matter what, you need to be seen.  Elisa
