Food issues still after 8 months post-op

First of all I want to say I just checked out my BMI and to my amazement I went from a BMI of 61 down to 35.5 in 8 months is this for real?  I have also discoverd that I have bones!  I am starting to feel my bones again, the fat is melting away and the bones are popping out, I love it!

To date I have lost 150 pounds in 8 months however I think I'm suffering from malnutrician (sp)?  It's either that or my iron is low again.  I have been feeling dizzy and so tired and I just got a b12 shot 2 weeks ago, however I don't eat much.

I am still having issues with food.  I can't do much with food, I mean I love it and love to cook but eating it is a different story.  The only thing I can eat and am ok with it almost every time is ground beef.  I try chicken or turkey and sometimes I can eat it and keep it down and sometimes not I never know unless I try it.  I can't do corn, salad, or veggies/fruit with skins.

I'm tired of eating and getting sick so part of me feels like giving up on food and just do shakes.  I'm really glad that I'm not lactose intolerant cause I love milk but there again don't drink much at a time, maybe about 4 oz's?  I'm just now getting to where I can eat low sugar peanut butter again at first I dumped on it and therefore I stayed away from it for a while but love it so much had to give it a second chance and I'm glad I did.  I tried that all natural pb but hated that so the low sugar is a good choice.

I would welcome anyones input if you have ideas or things that you eat and can keep down that are good for us.  I'm not sure if I'm missing something here?  I just know I probably should be eating more then I do.

Margie sent me a thing about labs that need to be done at one year post op but I think I'm going to take it to my PCP and have her go ahead and do them and see if the problem I'm having is related to something I'm not getting enough of?

Again thinks for all your support!

Bev i still have issues with food and getting in enough calories and im 2 years out. I have given up on trying to have a varity and eat a lot of chili and beans and ham....anything with ground beef in it goes down pretty good. and chicken now if i use thighs and cover it with something moist. like cooking it in the crock pot for several hours and cream of mushroom soup or something .
veggie are fine if they are cooked well with no skins. you may never be able to eat the skins. some do and some cant.
corn isnt something that we are really suppose to eat anyway,,,in the catagory of white bread , potatoes and rice. all no nos.
i do eat a bite of potatoes once in a great while. last night i had 1 tbls full and that was it. wont have them again for months ....
good for you on the bones popping out lol dont you just love to feel of them???
you are looking really good. keep up the good work and oh i was going to tell you that to get my calories in in a days time i still drink at least 2 protein shakes made with milk daily. use 6 oz instead of 4 will give you a bit more calories and protein too.
take care

Hey thanks Jan for the info, I like to cook in the crockpot and find that sometimes I can do thighs that are super moist but it seems like if I can eat it one day then try to eat left overs the next then I can't do that it's weird.  I probably eat too much carbs and I know that I should cut back on potatoes but it seems like that's one of the few things that goes down well.....I fixed a filet migone (sp?) steak on the grill last night and was able to eat a tiny bit of it with steak sauce and it stayed down which was amazing.  I always make my shakes with low fat milk to get the extra bit of protein.

Hey I wanted to tell you I like your new pic. you biker babe you!  I tried to change my avater but for some reason it won't change?

Hi Bev

I wonder if everyone has this problem. I can eat something one day and the next time I eat it it just doesn't work..I don't eat that much because I just cook for me and it is not worth the time to fix a meal and be able to eat 4 or 5 bites. I did fix chile and ham and beans and froze quit a few containers. Shared with some of my kids also..I found some gladware at walmart that are 1/2 cup so that worked out well...

I don't know if there good for us but I have found I can eat nuts just fine. I have tried almonds and sunflower kernels. I like the sunflowers because they have potassium in them and doc says mine is a little low..I have been trying to eat bananas but they fill me up really fast. Can't eat much of them at a time..Tried them in shakes too.
The nut are high in fat but low carb and they have protein in them. I figure every little bit helps...

I have to say you look marvelous..what a good job you have done...keep it up....
