Hi, I had my surgery with Dr De Le Torre at DePaul and was very pleased with the Dr and the hospital...thier staff on the weight loss institute is great and very caring. The actual staff that takes care of you after surgery are wonderful too!

I had Dr Scott for a scope once and he is very personable and nice.

Ask away on here and get all the information you can from every source available to you... Best of luck and blessings to you.

Have either of you had any complications from the surgery?

Yes I did, but it was just one of those fluking things that happens. I developed an abcess in my old stomach and they had to put in a drain for that and had to keep going up to get it drained or pumped out and then I developed  a problem when my potasium levels depleted and that was a terrible ordeal. Then I developed ulcers and my gall bladder stopped working. But I know hundreds of people now that have had this surgery and never had one second of trouble...If you would have ask me 2 months or even up to 6 months after if it was worth it I would have given a resounding NO but today at 1year and 7 months out and down by 137#s I will tell you a loud and clear and resounding YES! YES! YES!  I am healthy again and strong and feel 30 instead of 55! Life has definately taken a turn for the better since Ive healed from the surgery. Of course it is still alot of work afterwards, but at least you feel like doing the work since you have all the weight off! I go to the gym (pool) and do water aerobics or water yoga or water walking at least 4 days a week and for awhile I was going 6 days a week. But once you feel better, even getting to exercise is a privledge and you look forward to it...the key is finding something you like and sticking with it..

Sorry, didnt mean to write a book...it is just importatnt to know that having the surgery isnt the end, it is just the beginning of a whole new way of thinking and doing.

I had Dr. Scott at DePaul Hospital perform my RNY by pass this summer.  I like the doctor, the hospital and the staff.  I think I received some of the finest care out there.

I had Lap-RNY 2yrs ago with Dr. De la Torre at Depaul. Both were great! I suffered a pacrease attack after and they immediately caught the problem and I received the best of care. Dr. Scott has cared for me as far as gallbladder and other aftercare and he too is a great Dr. Very caring. Both Dr.s nursing and staff is top-notch as far as I am concerned, just wish I didn't have to travel 2 hrs to see them all the time, but they are worth it.

This isn't nothing against Dr Scott's ability BUT my expierence with him wasn't so plesant.  I weighed 557lbs when I went to see him and he told me if I lost 200lbs he's do my surgery.  I was totally devastated.  I thought Mr. if I could loose 200lbs I wouldn't need you or this surgery.  He didn't refer me to anyone or anything just another diet plan.  Which I have been overweight since I was 2 so I've been on plenty of diets.  I knew at that time that this surgery was a life or death thing.

To his defense he did say that he didn't have the equipment or personnel to handle someone my weight.  Which I understand it was just the way he said to me to loose 200lbs and come back and he'd do my surgery that totally just floored me.

SO this is NOT about his ability just the way he comes across to you or well to me.
Good luck.
