Newbie 11 Days Post Op

Hi.  My name is Karla and I'm just north of KC.  I'm 11 days out from my Rouen Y.  I'm trying to get used to this new feeling of full.  It sneaks up so suddenly that I've over done it and had it come up a couple of times.  I think I need to practice eating more slowly, but with me eating alone most of the time it's difficult to stretch out mealtimes.  I think it might be easier if I was engaged in conversation with someone.

Anyhoo.... nice to meet everyone here.  I've heard this is the place to be, so I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Karla, good to meet you and glad that you came to the best board on OH....

dont know how we will work as dinner companuions but we are willing to try...another way to not over eat is to measure out exactly what you are suppose to have  no more and put it on your plate. I have even done some other things like take a bite , put down my fork, get up and walk to the bathroom and back while chewin g then sit down pick up fork and take another bite and reapeat process. i was so use to eating fast from all my years of working as a nurse...you eat when you have a spare minute and try to get it all in fast , i think that is one reason nurses are overweight. any way off subject...good to meet you and hope you will come back often and get to know us and let us get to know you....Jan

Hi Karla,
I am north of KC too and we share the same surgeon so of course I wanted to say hello. I had Lap Band so I'm not much help, sorry.
Hope you get to feeling better soon,

Hi Girls!

Oh it so nice to meet you both!  I had the same surgeon too!  My surgery was Sept. 22nd.  And I can tell you for sure that the most trouble I have too is eating those first couple of bites too big and too fast!  It's always when I'm on the run too... if I fix my plate and set down then I rarely have any trouble.... When I do set down to eat I use my baby spoon and that helps me take small bites and if I do that I always remember to chew real good.  I know the baby spoon sounds silly but it really does work for me.

Karla it is so nice to meet you..... you are right this is a very wonderful place to be!  I've just been so blessed by so many on this board I've found some wonderful new friends and so much help and have learned such valuable information.... my success thus far has been in large part to so many that have come along side me and encouraged me and taught me so many things I needed to know.

I know you will be just as blessed if you stick around and let us get to know you!

... and skinny minni ~ I know you have posted a bit in the past .... but come on in and let us get to know you too...

Both of you ladies would be welcome to the lunch we are having on the 19th in Raymore at Peggy M's house if you are interested just personal message her and she will give you the details... oh it would be so nice to meet you both also!

I wish you both the very very best!

Thanks Bec for the invite but have something else going the 19th. But I am enjoying watching all of you getting excited to get together. I know you will have so much fun. I am a Lap Bander so I don't have the same issues you gals have. But I read daily and have enjoyed watching your progress. It makes me so proud of Dr. Hoehn and PA Tim. Most of my care has been through Tim and I absolutely think the world of him. I am too old to have heros but if I did he and Dr. Hoehn would be my heros.
Thanks again for the invite and I know you'll have as much fun as possible,
Connie B.

It would be nice to meet others taking this journey.  I know I can learn so much from everyone.  However, I'm having some other problems which are beginning to make me afraid to go out; and since I've brought it up.... I just have to ask.....

(pssst... the faint of heart should not read on)

Has anyone else had a problem with constant diarreah after surgery?  Hate to be to graphic here, but this is turning into a REAL BIG problem and I'm afraid of having an accident.  Dr. Hoehn gave me 2 prescriptions to battle the problem, one of which is running out tomorrow, but it's still not under control and it will be 2 weeks on Wednesday.  I'm careful with my food choices, and we're not supposed to dump proteins, are we?  Because that is all I'm eating right now.

However, once I get this under control.... I would love to meet everyone and share your experiences.
