Ok made a phone call to Dr. Melkonian's office today and I have an intial consult on the 26th of this month. The receptionist that set all of this up said today was her first day doing all of this (me her first victim, lol) so I'm not sure if I'm really going to be able to make this appointment. She is sending me out a packetof info but I have to have a psych eval and get my weight history for the last five years(that's what is required by State Emplyoee's Insurance) on the day of my appointment. Less than 2 weeks The weight history is no problem to get from my PCP but the psych eval is going to be a little trickey. Anyone know of a psych in the Charlotte area that may be able to slip me in pretty quick? Not sure whatelse I'm going to need until I get the packet but I've already had a stress test and a sleep study early last summer, and just had a complete bloodwork up last month. Any help would be GREATLY!!! apreciated Cindi

Wow, I can't believe how fast things are progressing. Had to see my PCP again this morning(hubby gave me the flu! ) By the time I had gotten home from the office, they were calling to tell me that they had my weight history already for me to pick up. DANG that was quick!! My packet from the surgeon came this afternoon. I called 2 names on the list that was there for a Psych and Nutrition eval and with in 30min had both of them set up before I go see Dr. Melkonian on the 26th. I was sure I was going to have to cancel my apt., thinking I wouldn't have everything ready. I go back and see my PCP on the 17th for a follow up on this flu and will have him finish the blood test that are required then. Turn around is like 2 days. I'm really getting excited now. If things keep progressing like this I'm hoping to be able to get my surgery set up for sometime around Spring Break (4/12) if not then I think I will have to wait until school lets out the first part of June, as I don't think I can really afford to take off for a week. I need to have this done before July because right now I only have to pay another $100 on my co-insurance before all my medical stuff for the rest of the year(june 30th for the school system) is paid 100% by the insurance company!!! crossing fingers and toes....... Lea, Wouldn't that be great. I think everyone should do their own thing as a leader but it does help to get ideals from each other. You know the old saying, Two heads are better then one. I feel the more the merrier. I have a nurse at my job who had surgery almost 3 years ago. She lost about 100 lbs but has gained most of it back now along with the complication of obesity. I have been talking to her about coming to talk to my group next month. She was not told much by her Dr. and says she has learned more from me. Beleave me I have learned just as much from her. I think her story would help people stay on track even myself. She is all for telling her story so hopefully she will be able to do this next month. All need to know this is a lifetime commitment and what can happen if you don't know the rules or follow them. See you lighter. Joanne
