Wow! An LDS Board!!!
I finally decided to fill out my "interests" section, and marked the "Mormonism" (don't you just love that title)? After I went over to my local board in MT, I noticed on the left side that we have our own board! I live in Billings, MT and only know people who have had GB, but I am jumping (hopefully) thru my last pre-op hoop by having a cardiac eval and pulmonary eval per my insurance company before having an adjustible lap band done in Great Falls, MT. They only do GB here in Billings.
I've been a member since 1984 and I can't wait to be a "loser"! I'm just thrilled that besides the folks on the lap band board, I can talk to fellow latter-day saints who've experienced what I'm experiencing. I've been getting nervous since my cardio eval is tomorrow. The Lord is surely watching out for me by sending me all of you!
Welcome to the board!! Sometimes it is a little slow around here, so be patient if you don't get responses right away.
Are you having the lap band or gastric bypass?
Noticed on your profile that you were married in the Seattle temple. We just got back from vacation in Seattle this past week. The Seattle temple is beautiful.

Welcome Annette! I'm probably the newest member of the board prior to your arrival, so that definately makes you the newest. I think I found the board in a similar manner as you. By accident. Been checking everyday to see if the dust has been stired on this page. So very glad your hear. Lets see, Billings - one of those places I've driven through to get to someplace else a few times. Actually I have had a Montana SS card, due to working in West Yellowston one summer. I have a sister that lives in Alberta, so have had the opportunity to see the beauty of your great state. Living in Texas, one of the places Texas girls always tell me they want to see is Mont. We definately need the support of our sisters on this board.

I'd been tossing around the idea of gastric bypass for a few years since a know a number of members here in MT as well as in UT who've had it done. My husband was pretty nervous due to side effects, risks, etc. I went to have a work up on my kidney stones with the nephrologist and he ordered a CAT Scan. The radiologist told him that I have fatty liver from being obese. My hubby and I had already discussed that I should have the lap band, but I said to my doc, "I want to have GB". He said, "No you don't, you want to have the Lap Band." Weird! We talked about it, and the next day I called Dr. Rohrer in Great Falls and made an appt. I saw him last month and since then I've been working on the pre-auth. My appt with the cardiac doc is in about 1/2 hour, so I'll be heading out. I can't wait to get the lap band and start on the road to recovering my health. I want to lose the sleep apnea and the high blood pressure pills! Can't wait to learn from all of you!
Have a wonderful day!
Annette, I was told we all have fatty livers if we're overweight. Thats why I'm on a low carb, low fat diet prior to surgery. Perhaps I missunderstood, but I suspect that as young as you are the Dr. prefers the less invasive surgery, much less risky. Heck I'm 61, and going for the big fix, rather take the chance this way than having to go back and have the second surgery. LOL

Hi Annette, welcome to our little community. I just returned from a temple marithon (marithon for me anyway), I was able to do three consecutive sessions. That's a big one for me. Our temple is two hours away from us so it's been an all dayer for me.
Good luck and hope to see you back here often. We need someone to stir us up once in a while.

Welcome Annette, I don't post very often but I read it everyday. You will love this site. Also there is one for scrapbooks also. Make sure and take plenty of before pictures so you will have then to scrapbook. I just got home from a fireside with Sister Parkin. She gave me a hug. I am so excited. She happened to be visiting the OR coast and came to Beaverton to speak. It was great. My daughter is in that stake so I drove over from Vancouver WA to see her. it was well worth the drive. Once again welcome Barbara Hansen Vancouver WA
