Any suggestions?
Daph, I'm almost finished with my 5th Mitford book "A new Song". I should fini**** today. I'm lucky that our local library seems to carry quite a few of Jan Karon's books. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading them. I suggest them to anyone who will listen to me. Thank you SO MUCH for suggesting them. They are among my "highly recommended" priority list.
I thing I like about a board like this one is that we can steer each other to good uplifting books. We don't have to muddle through the smut and trash to find something good and uplifting to read. More people need to get the word out when they find a good wholesome book to read.
Love,
Melody
Daph, I finished reading the 6th book in the Mitford series. I've tried to look on the website to see if there are any more books in the Mitford series but I can't find anymore. Do you know if there are anymore than 6 books? They are fabulous. I would love to continue with the series. I think I just answered my own question. I think I'll e-mail Jan Karon herself (or her publisher) and ask them.
I sure appreciate your suggestion. They have been a real joy to read. I've recommended them to anyone else that is looking for some good, enjoyable, clean reading.

I appreciate the offer for you to send me your books but I'm lucky that our local library either carries them or can get them in. I did some research and found the names of the last three books. I printed the names of them out so I can take them to the library and have them order them for me. When I looked up the information on the Mitford web site there was a discussion site. One of the topics was someone complaining because they either didn't like the way the series ended or felt there wasn't a closure something about them not liking the way the series ended. I didn't go into that discussion group because I didn't want anyone to tell me how it ended. I want to read it myself.
Are you reading anything good now?
Melody
Hi there it's just me, I have several Claie Poulson and Jennie Hansen books on tapes and CD's, I also have the tennis series on CD, so if you want to borrow, I will be glad to drop them by on my way to work. Going to the Dr this morning" AGAIN" Dr Ko. He gotta be tired of seeing me, but he never shows it. Have a great day will check my email when I get home at 1 AM. Kaye
Yesterday we had a gathering of sisters who want to have a reading group together. One of the options we discussed was having one of these Deseret Book Club reading groups. But until we determine if we want to do that, we agreed to read Orson Scot Cards, Sarah. He is a best selling Author who has written books on Biblical women, and made fictional stories to give them life and personality. Apparently they are available in most of our local Texas Libraries, so that's where we choose to start as a group.
I always enjoy your post Melody, you are truly an inspiration to me.
Love,
Linda W.
What a coincidence that you mentioned the Deseret book club reading group. This summer several of the women in our ward have started the habit of going to the park with our children and having lunch in the park. Yesterday, one of them mentioned that they were investigating the Deseret Book Club reading group and considering starting one. She's going to get back to us when she gets the details. My only regret is we didn't do this at the starting of the summer. With school starting in the next couple weeks, our chances of the ladies getting together will be harder and harder.

I know this is a bit late, but I really got into reading a series by the Thoene's, Brock and Bodie I think are their names.
I was reading The Zion Covenant series which is historical fiction about Hitler and WWII. It takes place in Germany, Austria, Czech. Since I'm living over here right now it was really neat to be reading them because I know where they are talking about, first hand in some cases.
They have a few other series as well. One that I know of but haven't read is the Zion Chronicles. I think that one focuses on Judaism around the Middle East, but not positive.
