Here we go...I will do the first set of questions. 1: Where are you from? 2: How long have you been a member of the church? 3: Post-Op or Pre-Op? Pre-ops..where are you at in this process? Post ops how far out are you? 4: Children? Married? Divorced? Single? Widowed? 5: Would you like to see the LDS Message board more active? If so, Why or why not? 6: Children - Home School or Public School? Okay..I think this is enough for "today". LOL Here are my answers: 1: I live in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. 2: I was baptised just over 15 yrs ago. 3: Post Op. I am 6 weeks out this coming Tuesday. I have lost around 40 lbs. 4: Married, although somedays I wonder how I have made it the last 10.5 yrs. We have 3 children. Corry we adopted 6 yrs ago this month from LDSSS, Corry lives in a treatment home and was supposed to be transitioned to a treatment foster home this last week...that is another hole post in itself. Abigayle is 5 and Bryant is 2. Both are biological children. 5: Of course I would!! Anything would be an improvement that what it is now. I feel so much that the other forums are just not what I am looking for. They all have their quirks and just don't seem to meet what I am looking for. I belong to 2 different LDS Yahoo groups. I am the moderator to both of them - One is for WLS and People who are hoping to loose weight on their own. (it is a sub group). 6: Nope no homeschooling here. Many days I feel that it is the best thing the goverment can provide for nearly free of charge!!! I love my children..but I will not homeschool! Gala

Gala, thanks for doing this! You're the bestest! 1: Where are you from? I am from Michigan but after being a military wife and living in many places, I live in San Antonio, TX. Even tried living back in MI for a few years but dh can't take the winters. 2: How long have you been a member of the church? 34years. I was 18 when I joined. 3: Post-Op or Pre-Op? Pre-ops..where are you at in this process? Post ops how far out are you? I am post-op 5 months. My how time goes by. 4: Children? Married? Divorced? Single? Widowed? Married to present dh for almost 17 yrs. 3 daughters, 2 sons, 2 step-daughters, 1 step-son. You didn't ask for grandchildren but here goes. 23 grandchildren 1great-grandson. (I must admit I am too young for that but who cares he's the cutest!) 5: Would you like to see the LDS Message board more active? If so, Why or why not? Oh yes! I would love to see this board more active. It would be great to have a board where I can just discuss the things that are important to me and have people understand what I am talking about. I don't really know how to express just what I mean but maybe it is that I need to chat with people who share my values. I often feel like an outsider even on the Over Fifties Forum where I go most of the time. 6: Children - Home School or Public School? When my children were young, they went to public school. I didn't realize there was homeschooling. I don't think I am disciplined enough to do it. I do teach art to homeschool families though and love the concept. Grins, Kaye

1, I grew up in Oregon City, Oregon...moved here to Tacoma area 5 years ago when I married Kevin. 2. I was baptized at age 8, my parents were converts and pretty relaxed about the gospel. They went in and out of activity through out my growing up. I've been continuously active 14 years. Served a mission in Taiwan. 3. Post op....distal rny....I've lost 47 lbs. since my surgery 6/3/04 4. Happily married almost 5 years. We plan to be sealed on our anniversary this November 20th in the Portland Temple. My husband has 4 grown kids, I have 3....boy age 17, twins boy/girl age 10....his kids move in and out, mine live here full time. We have two grandboys through his daughter....age 3 and 1 5. I check this forum often, but it doesn't seem to move much. 6. I couldn't home school if I wanted.....my kids showmuch more respect and behave better for their teachers....we'd end up playing all day I'm afraid. I'm a big kid inside, and would plan field trips everyday I think......

1: Where are you from? Born in Southern California to a career navy father. He went all over the world, we went all over Southern California. Moved to Idaho in 1978 when my father retired. Lived in Idaho ever since. 2: How long have you been a member of the church? Born into the church. 3: Post-Op or Pre-Op? Pre-ops..where are you at in this process? Post ops how far out are you? 5 months post op. Have lost 73 pounds. 4: Children? Married? Divorced? Single? Widowed? Married to a non-member for 23 years now. We have 5 children. A son 20, daughters 19, 16, 5, 3. 5: Would you like to see the LDS Message board more active? If so, Why or why not? I check this message board everyday and I try to respond to almost all the posts. I would love to see more people chat. 6: Children - Home School or Public School? My children all went or will go to public school. When my 5 year old was getting ready for kindergarten I wanted to put her in a pre-school. They were all way too expensive so I started my own pre-school. We called it "Little Lamb Pre-school". We invited 3 other families in our ward with children the same age to attend. We totally focused on gospel teachings. We sang Primary songs to open and close and we opened and closed with prayer. Wonderful experience but I'm glad it's over. We'll see if I repeat it for my 3 year old. Melody

Hello everyone... 1: Where are you from? I grew up in Henryville Indiana..(20 miles north of Louisville Kentucky). Greatest blessing in the world. 3: Post-Op or Pre-Op? Pre-ops..where are you at in this process? Post ops how far out are you? I had Open RNY on 4/23/04. So far -55. So greatful for this surgery. It has given me new hope and my life back. 4: Children? Married? Divorced? Single? Widowed? Married to a wonderful man. Met him in Utah while serving a mission there. Had the awesome opportunity to be one of his missionaries that taught him and his son. They joined the Church and we kept in contact. After my mission went back to Utah and next thing I know we are kneeling across the altar at the Ogden Temple getting married... Hubby has three children from previous marriage I have none. His kids let their kids call me Granny though and that is marvelous. 5: Would you like to see the LDS Message board more active? If so, Why or why not? I would love to see this board more active. I really enjoy getting to know all of you. 6: Children - Home School or Public School? Since I don't have kids I guess I shouldn't comment on this one. Have a great week everyone!! Alfie

Hello, So glad people want to pick up on this board some, I check in but find not much change..... Hey, I wanna play: 1) I was born and raised in Northern California, met my husband on my mission in Texas, (He was my Zone leader) and moved here to his home state of Utah ("Mormonland") 2) My parents joined the church when I was 2, I remember kneeling at the alter of the Oakland temple when I was 4. 3) I am 2 months out yesterday (16th) am finally feeling like I'm "Glad I did this".....I'm a slowpoke loser, have only lost 37 lbs. 4) I am married, to a really great man---however, I find WLS has brought up all my issues. (a good thing) realize my husband enabled me to be fat, (Isn't this journey called "Life" fun?!) We have 5 biological children together (oldest are twins) Started when I was 29, was done by 35! (Don't try this at home!....) 5) Yes, how can we get everybody to check in more regularly? I do have to say with all we have to do as LDS church members, and mom's of kids and etc. I understand why we wouldn't have time to "LIVE" on the computer like so many I see on the regular message boards, sheesh! (LOL) It is so wonderful to have support though, with others who are going through this, as I've never felt so abandoned by my ward friends as I have since this surgery. 6) I do not homeschool my children for two reasons, A) They have a wonderful school and have developed good friendships and learn social skills they can't learn anywhere else. B) If I homeschooled them, they would be retarted. Hope we can all keep in touch, I think we need each other!!! ~~~Violet (Rebecca
