1. Where were you when you learned about the 9/11 attacks? 2. What did you do in response? (donated money, supplies, lit candles, etc.) 3. Did/do you know anyone involved? My answers: 1. I had been watching the Disney Channel with my son and doing laundry at my in-laws (we lived in the mother-in-law apartment next door). I grabbed Noah and a basket of laundry and went next door. They were sitting in the living room glued to the t.v. The second building had just been hit. I watched with the family as people jumped from the windows and as the buildings fell, then as the Pentagon wa**** and the last plane went down. 2. I bought supplies that we donated to the people working to clean up and rescue people. We also joined in a candle vigil and sang patriotic songs. And, of course, we prayed. 3. My sister-in-law, Milla, lived in Manhattan and worked near the trade towers. She saw everything from her office. We couldn't get in touch with her for hours. **I don't know if this is a well know fact but every member of the church that worked in the towers had called in sick or was running late. None of them we're killed in the attacks.

1. Where were you when you learned about the 9/11 attacks? At home without the TV on. A friend called and told me to turn on the news and that a plane had one of the towers. I was glued to the TV from that moment for several hours. I was watching when the second plane hit and also when the towers each tumbled and with the reports of the other planes. 2. What did you do in response? (donated money, supplies, lit candles, etc.) Prayed. 3. Did/do you know anyone involved? No we are clear across the oposite side of the United States from NY so I didn't know anyone involved.

My 2 yr old Daughter (who is now 5) and I had flown to SF 2 days before on the 9th to meet and stay with an online friend I had made. We were supposed to fly out on the 11th from Milwaukee to San Fransico but my dh ended up having to work so I was able to change our flight plans..... I was in bed and all of sudden heard my friend Misty and her husband yelling/screaming. (remember this is a strange place for me. Even though Misty and I had chatted on line and talked on the phone for 2 yrs and her daughter came to stay w/me for a few months...I still felt out of place and wasn't to sure of my surroundings) I jumped out of bed and went to see what was going on. I no more woke up and got my bearings when the 2nd plane hit. I too, sat in horror the entire day. Watching, praying, crying. My mother tried to call me for hours but the phone lines kept sayign "closed circuit or circuit busy". Even though SF wasn't hit and I was in San Jose she was concnered since one of the flights was headed to SFO. 2. I didn't do anything in response. I support the President and the men and women who were deployed THAT DAY secretly to Afghanastan (my cousin's husband- ship left that evening and they were on a "unannounced mission". She knew where he was but was forbidden to tell where he was. He came home for a day 2 weeks later and was deployed again. Only she could "say" he was gone this time -- but just not where. I don't always agree with what the President decides - but I don't have his job for a reason. 3: Nope I did know the tid bit about members working in the towers. Also something else that I don't know if it was well known or not -- I don't know if I will get this story right or not...but will try. While I was staying w/Misty we went to Las Vegas. Her daughter moved there the week of the attacks. We went to church that week where her daughter would be attending. The Sacrament meeting was dedicated to the 9/11 survivors and victems. One of the Brothern was asked to speak first hand as their son was serving his mission in that area. They had a Zone Conference scheduled to meet either at the towers or across the street. I can't remember exactly. However, NONE of the Missionaries were able to get there in time that day. Had they been on time of course they would have been in direct line of the destruction. I find it truelly amazing how our Father in Heaven watches over us w/every ounce of our being. Gala

These are great questions! I love learning about all of you. Please, everyone, join in with us. I have had a very busy week but am enjoying catching up on everyone. Question of the Day- 9/11 1. Where were you when you learned about the 9/11 attacks? I was at home. I had had a very rough night and did not get to bed until after 8 am central time. I told my husband, when he got up for work, that something was wrong somewhere and I just couldn't put my finger on it but some thing was terribly wrong. I felt it all night. So I had been on the internet trying to get some work done. I forgot to turn the internet off to free the phone line. I went to bed and then later my cell phone woke me up. I didn't get it in time so there were 2 messages. The first was from DH and he just said to turn on the television. Well I did that and the first thing I saw was the pentagon. Just then the second message played. It was my daughter near DC. She said, "Mom, Todd, (her DH) is at the Pentagon and I can't find him!" My heart died and I aged 10 years then. Well I was still in shock from seeing the devastation and then to hear this made me crazy. He was not in the Pentagon but NEAR the pentagonand we found that out a couple of hours later. 2. What did you do in response? (donated money, supplies, lit candles, etc.) I immediately started praying and went and donated blood. 3. Did/do you know anyone involved? See above. At the same time, my friends brother was working at the twin towers. He was one that didn't make it to work on time that day. My dd lived in a neighborhood with many folks that worked at the Pentagon. Very nice people and some were hurt badly. Her Father-in-law was the Bishop of her ward. The stake president, was due to leave on a business trip, to CA,on the morning of 9/11. The night before he felt that he couldn't go till he had a meeting with the Bishops etc. He felt very strongly that he needed to do it so he postponed his flight and called a meeting. You have probably guessed that the flight he would have been on was the one that hit the pentagon. Indeed, Heavenly Father looks after us. I can imagine how grateful the stake president's wife is that her husband was obedient to the spirits promptings. Again, Hydi, thanks for these great questions. I am interested in hearing everyones answers. Grins, Kaye

Good morning everyone. 1. Where were you when you learned about the 9/11 attacks? I work for American Airlines here in Fort Worth and I was at my desk had the radio on when they announced the first plane hitting the towers. We all froze and then cranked up the radios in the office then we finally found a tv. Even though I didn't personally know any of the crews on the planes there is a sense of kinship because of working for the same company. Everyone was just sick at heart as you can imagine. We were allowed later in the day to leave a little early and I went straight home. I put out our Flag and it has stayed up until June of this year...need to get a new one. Wore the other one just about out. Lots of prayers were said that day by millions. No one knew what to expect next. 2. What did you do in response? (donated money, supplies, lit candles, etc.) We had blood drives here at work and also did some things bake sales raffles that sort of thing to raise funds for the families that were effected in the crashes. Crews and passengers. I do support the president and my personal opinion of what we are doing is I am greatful that we have government leaders who have the vision to see what can be done for the people in the Middle East over the long term. I have looked in the eyes of the young girls in the Middle East and I see so much out there for them given the opportunity. One of the things I do in my job is paperwork for the men and women being deployed and coming back to work here that are in the military. The ones coming back all have wonderful stories of the Iraqi people thanking them for coming. It may not be until 2 or more generations have passed but I believe that there will come a day when all the children there will have good educations, good health and have the opportunity to know who Jesus Christ is. Sorry to get on my soap box but this is something I'm very passionate about. 3. Did/do you know anyone involved? No I didn't know anyone. But felt that I did. Kinship of the spirit maybe. Its always important to remember what has happened to us and our country...thank you for asking these questions. Have a great week everyone Alfie

Ok, I will post answers to the question! We have been on vacation to Disneyland, so I haven't been on in a while. We were supposed be in Disneyland on Saturday, but we decided not to go because there were SO many people we figured we wouldn't get to do anything. We can go another day, so we shopped instead. But I did think of being in the "happiest place on earth" on 9/11. It is all kinda surreal. 1. Where were you when you learned about the 9/11 attacks? I was home, my sister had called me to tell me to turn on the TV. We had taken a vacation a few months earlier to NY and fell in love with it! So she called in a panic and I turned on the TV right after the first plane hit. I watched TV all day long and watched when the second plane hit and then when the buildings fell. I couldn't believe it was actually happening! 2. What did you do in response? (donated money, supplies, lit candles, etc.) Our ward did some donation things and the schools had donation drives. Other than that and praying I didn't do too much. 3. Did/do you know anyone involved? I didn't know anyone involved. I felt like I knew everyone from all the stories I heard. Because I fell in love with NY a few months earlier and had lots of picutres and couldn't believe that all that stuff was gone I think I was in disbelief from this. I kept thinking of the people working in the mall under the trade center, the people in the building across the street with the cool stair case, the people working there who were so scared they jumped, I just kept thinking of all the people who had that individual experience! It is making me sad right now, so I am going to stop thinking about it!

Okay, I'm a bit late on answering this, but I'll go ahead anyway.... 1. Where were you when you learned about the 9/11 attacks? I was at work, just ending my night shift as a nurse. I went into my patients' room and she said "Look, a plane hit the twin tower..." and I sat with her and right then the second plane hit. We were just in shock. I ran to the phone and woke my husband Kevin up, and his first words were, "It's Osama" and I had no idea who he was talking about, but he was right. On the way home the news over the car radio just got worse, and worse and I finally had to pull over and was just sobbing in my car. I watched it all day, and I watched it all day this week too. Cried alot, and my son said, "Why do you watch this?" and I just couldn't explain it. It's so sad. 2. What did you do in response? (donated money, supplies, lit candles, etc.) I didn't do much but I prayed alot for the families left to mourn. I also became more politically educated, and I support our President's efforts. Our son served in Iraq, and he came home with the most beautiful stories of the people thanking him, and wanting to gift him with what little they had. He also had scarey stories of teens throwing bricks at him all the time....but most of the people were so grateful of our efforts, even if our media don't show it to us on this end. 3. Did/do you know anyone involved? I know of no one involved, but I have learned of many, many heros since that day. Tracey
