Halloween

As we all know, Halloween is on a Sunday this year. I asked the Mayor if he would pass a declaration that since Halloween fell on a Sunday, Trick or Treating would be on Saturday night for the city. The Mayor took the issue to the City Council who decided they would leave it up to the community to call and voice their opinions. City Hall received one more vote for Saturday than for Sunday so it was determined not to interfere and let Trick or Treating remain on Sunday. I will NOT allow my 3 year old or my 5 year old to break the Sabbath by going Trick or Treating. Our house will remain dark and we will not pass out candy on the Sabbath. Today is a Saturday and the announcement from City Hall was just made public in the newspaper today. I'm hoping that our ward will put together a Trunk or Treating situation for Saturday night. Satan is working overtime and enjoying his win with this situation. Thanks for letting me vent. Melody

Is your ward having an activity? My ward building has a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot every year. This year it will be on Saturday. I am not allowing my children to trick-or-treat on Sunday, nor am I giving out candy. Last Halloween it rained and hardly any one went out in my neighborhood. I bet this year will be different.

We are having a trunk or treat in our ward on Saturday. I don't have small children so trick or treating is not a problem. But I think that our town is having trick or treating on Saturday and I think that will work. I hope so anyway. Donna

Hi Melody, Our ward had their trunk-or-treat last night. Bummer since that still leaves the whole weekend open for NOTHING. My sister's kids had a GREAT idea though! They are going to pass out candy with Pass Along cards tied to it. They got a BUNCH of Pass Along cards from the missionaries and they are excited about it. Since my kids have done their fun and still need something to do, I thought about taking them out on Saturday night to trick or treat at Grammas, and then maybe go to a few members houses. I even thought I might call those members before hand so they would be expecting it. Luckily my 11 year old has a friend who is having a party on Sat. So she is taken care of. The 8,5, and 1 are the ones I have to come up with something for! Good luck, and I wish your town would of gotten a clue. You'd think Idaho and Utah could get away with it better than California. I had no hope of them changing it at all!
