Hi you all - it's been quiet on this board for a few days, so I thought I would pose a question to you that I put on the main board. Just want to see what you all think. Now, I won't be having surgery until probably August, and I know that this depends a lot on what the doctor says, but what has been your impression with the Lap versus the Open surgery? Any definite pros/cons that you could pass on. Well wake up Mormons!! I guess we are all so busy it's hard to find time to post. By the way, does anyone know why this board is named "Mormonism". It's just the first I've heard it referred to like that. But that's okay, as long as we have a board. Today it looked like spring might be close (in Virginia), but it's still a little chilly. I hear the cherry blossoms in Washington DC will be arriving on time and will be beautful. Anyone coming to town to see them!! I know that might sound funny, but you would be surprised at the large number of tourists who do come. The first year we lived here I couldn't believe the traffic jam - cars pulled over on the side of the bridge to look at them. Unbelievable. Check in with you all later! donna

Hi Donna, I agree, this board has been quiet for far too long. I check in once or twice a day to see if anyone has posted. I'm glad that you've broken the ice and have posted. I just got back from seeing the musical play "Greece" based on the movie of the same name. It was performed by a group of performers who put on a different musical every year. It was wonderful. If you closed your eyes you could almost envision Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta singing on the stage. The choreography was absolutely top notch. I'll be taking my two youngest children (4 & 6 years old) to a couple easter egg hunts on Saturday. One for the community and one at the nursing home. Since we do our visiting teaching at the nursing home, my little girls are very familiar with the residents. They're not shy around them or afraid of them, they just go right up to them and visit and hold their hands. It looks like we're going to have a sugar rush ahead of us with our little ones. The challenge will be for me not to be tempted to sample their wares. Have a good weekend and a great Easter Donna. Melody

I was suppose to have my RNY LAP, but I had some complications with my last little ovary that had to come out at the time and I had multiple adhesions that just complicated the doctor from doing it LAP. So he opened me. I lost a lot of blood and had to have 2 pts of blood. But in the end, I'm so happy I had it done. A friend in my Ward had her RNY by the same doc and he did her's LAP and she was back to work a week later. I think having it LAP is probably best if you can. The surgery is far less invasive and recovery is a lot faster. Christy
