I had a WOW moment today. I tried on a pair of my DH pants that were a size 34 waist. They FIT! When I tried them on I didn't think there would be any way I could squeeze into his pants. What's new with you? Today, April 6th is of a valuable significance to the LDS people. Did you all remember that it was the date the Church was re-organized? Did you remember it is the actual date of our Savior's birth? Many, many blessings to be thankful for today. Have a wonderful, wonderful day. Melody 140 pounds and hopefully still losing

Thank You Melody for posting the What's New. How cool to be able to fit into your dh pants of a 34. That is the size my dh is now in. I'm thinking he will stay there. Much better than the 50+ he was in when he had his surgery last June. I didn't know that today was either of what you mentioned. Thanks for telling me. Nothing new here. I've been lurking for some time. I think about posting and then something threw out the day happens or whatever and I get side tracked. I've been/am struggling. I guess it is pretty noticeable because I saw our branch president and his wife tonight at A&W when I was getting my kids a Root Beer Float treat and she says "WOW...you look really tired. Are you babysitting still?" Yes I am. I have a house full of kids. She asks if I was there to get dinner also and I said no just a snack I was on my way home from Madison. ect ect. She then mentions how tired/pale I look. nice. Two hours before I had been crying and I guess it was still pretty noticeable on my face. Anyway - I'm here. Good Night. Gala

Hi Melody-thanks for posting a whats new posting!!! April 6 is quite a day for LDS peoples. I remember telling my dad once that we should have Christmas again in April cause that is when Jesus' birthday REALLY is....he just laughed at me! Today my son went to his first Scout group-he just turned 11 and is a real scout now. I hope he has a good time. Scouting is hard for me because I don't have someone who is always there for him to do 'guy' stuff-sometimes guys from church do step in, but other times, they don't have time, or want to just do things with their own sons and not include mine. With luck and lots of prayer, he will have someone to take him on the campouts and things so he can earn his badges. I went to my doctor today because my ear has been hurting like mad-it feels swollen down in my jaw, and I can't hear as well from that ear. I have been on antibiotics for a week and nothing has changed-this is the second round of them I have been on. She is sending me to the hospital on Friday for a CT scan to see if there is a tumor or what. She couldn't even see all the way into the ear with the otoscope. I can't sleep, I am so worried. I have to get a hold of my home teacher tomorrow and see if he will come and give me a blessing. I just hope whatever it is isn't going to delay my WLS. On top of everything else, I haven't been called by the temp agency for weeks, so I am flat broke without a job. I am trying to stay positive, but it is just so overwhelming sometimes. I am just glad I have this board, so I have somewhere to go when I am feeling lonely. Hugs to all of you, my brothers and sisters! ~lynn k

I've had nasty ear infections that wouldn't respond to antibiotics. My Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor said the bacteria was "pseudomonos." Might not have spelled that right. Anyway, apparently this nice little bug likes to live in ear canals so if you get on outer ear infection, some call it, "swimmer's ear", chances are you're dealing with pseudomonos. Cipro was what I was prescribed and it was a nuke where the other antibiotics were pop guns. Ask your doctor if it could be pseudomonos and if he could prescribe Cipro. Antibiotics like Augmentin, and Zithromax (which is what I was on) do not cut it against pseudomonos. Good Luck. Try this before you try a CT scan. Lynda

Thanks for the tip-Pseudemonas is a really nasty infection. They want to go ahead with the CT scan anyway, because she thinks there may be an auditory tumor because of the hearing loss-I have lost over 50% of my hearing in the last 3 months. I will ask her to check for Pseudemonas too if nothing comes back from the scan. (I would rather have nothing come back than have a tumor, believe me!) thanks again! lynn k

good grief-I had an MRI, not a CT scan-boy was that the most humiliating experience-and painful!!! It took 2 guys to shove me in that dang tube-it was such a tight fit my hands went totally numb. no results til next week. I went back to urgent care today and told them I was not gonna last the weekend with the pain and swelling-the doctor I got put me on Cipro in case it is Psuedemonas, and then gave me some Vicoden to help with the pain. she thinks the swelling may be from Psuedemonas-I hope she is right. I can't even chew right now because my jaw is so swollen. Thank you for the tip-maybe that's all it is and I can have a life soon, again!!! ((hugs)) lynn k

Lynn I know what you went through with the MRI. My first MRI I was so wide that I didn't even fit my whole body into the scanner. Thankfully all they had to scan was my head because I was put in just far enough to get the scan done and it was a tight squeeze. I was sooo embarrased. The only saving thing about it was that I didn't know any of the technicians and would never see them again. I hope the cipro does the trick for you. Ear infections are very painful and be quite crippling. Have a good weekend. Melody

Thanks Melody- the pain is a little better today, thanks to Vicoden, but I am moving pretty slow. Thank goodness it was only my head they needed to get in there-if I had needed an abdominal MRI, they would have had to send me to an open MRI place. I hope the Cipro does the trick-it has something in it to numb the eardrum, too, I think, because I feel like my ear is stuffed with cotton. The thing that really bothers me is not being able to hear-I hope that that will improve! It's sunny and warm today, so I am gonna soak in some sun- have a good weekend yourself! ~lynn k

Well I am a few days late answering - its been a heck of a week. My daughter got suspended from school (oh joy!) my husband got laid off, and my step dad left my mom after 17 years of marriage. It was a lot to take in this week. The good news is it was my 3rd week on the job as a teacher in jail, and I finished my physical training where I had to box and run up and down stairs and knock people off their feet and off my back, and get people from fight position into cuffs, and be able to do 25 pushups and 50 squats without stopping. It just about killed me, but I finished it!! After the 1st day 2 weeks ago I was almost ready to quit! You know last year there is NO POSSIBLE WAY I could have done this, so I feel good about it. Think I can go beat the snot out of my step dad and my daughter??? -Sherrie -Sherrie

Sherrie - congratulations on all you were able to accomplish. This is prood of how far you've come. Just think of how much more you'll be able to do. If you could run up and down stairs, do 25 pushups and 50 squats now plus all the other physical things you had to do, think of what you'll be able to accomplish in the future! Oh the joys of children. We always love them but I have to admit that there have been times that I didn't like them very. Thankfully that time went by quickly and I was able to get back to feeling and showing my love for them again. No one said it woud be easy to be a parent. I think this is just one of the challenges we need to go through to learn and grow. Hang in there Sherrie. Don't give up on your daughter. Continue to love her. Melody
