needing to vent

Some of you may be aware from an earlier post of mine that my two youngest daughters (4 and 6 years old) were sexually assaulted over and over and over again through a period of about a year by a 15 year old cousin. The police reports have been made, the girls have had their interviews and their examinations by the professionals who handle child sexual assualt cases, now the case has gone to the Prosecuting attorney. This 15 year old cousin has a lawyer so this cousin has never even been arrested. All the paperwork is going between lawyer and prosecuter. They held a pre-trial conference where this young man's lawyer wrote out a plea bargin and submitted it to the prosecuter. The prosecuter told me he liked the plea agreement but nothing would proceed until we looked it over. I received a copy of their offer and about flipped. This young man was charged with 8 felony Lewd and Lacivious counts. The young man's lawyer offered to plea to 2 charges of aggrevated battery. NO jail time, NO counciling and only 3 years of unsupervised probation. I immediately fired a letter back to the prosecuting attorney refusing this offer. This young man is a manipulator, he is a chronic liar, he is dishonest, he has an alcohol, tobacco and unknow other illegal substances addiction. He has NEVER followed any rules. This young man is my nephew. We love him dearly. He is out of control. If he isn't forced now to receive discipline and forced to follow rules he never in his life will learn this. I feel my girls need an advocate who knows the legal language and knows how to deal with judges and lawyers to make them aware of what is best for this young man. I'm having a terrible time finding an advocate for my girls. I have called lawyers, legal aid, crisis centers, child protection services, public defenders etc.... No one has the time or is willing to fight the system. Sorry, just needed to vent. Melody

Melody, have you contacted the Stake President to see if the church may have a advocate for your girls. They have rights, and why should that young man get away with what they did to the girls. If need be I would contact SLC. Church headquarters, some attorneys just do not want to fight, but let it be one of there children. Venting sometimes opens doors and helps us see more help. Kaye

Melody I would go to my local News they eat this stuff up. It sounds like that boy needs some time behind bars. and alot of counsling. If its not stoped now he will end up in Jail for the rest of his life. Ruthy
