Challenge from the prophet
How many of you have read the August issue of the Ensign? In Sacrament meeting on Sunday a letter from the First Presidency was read, the First Presidency (the prophet specifically) has challenged each member of the church to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover by the end of this year. He sites many promises and blessings that will come to us if we do this.
Our family is reading the Book of Mormon right now. We were in the Book of Jacob when this challenge was issued. I got out my calculator and calculated how far we were and how far we had to go to get to the end of the book by the end of the year. My family has to read 4 pages a day to reach this goal.
I figure that we'd better read 5-6 pages a day because I know there will be a day here or there that we won't be able to read.
If you haven't started on this challenge, I encourage you to start now.
This is a message from our Prophet. I, for one, need all the blessings I can get. How can I ask for blessings if I don't do something this simple? I need to do my part.
Good luck and good reading.

I have begun to read the Book of Mormon again. I have made it a priority to do so in morning that way my day goes better. I think that if the prophet challenges us to do it, then the Lord expects us to follow through with it. My husband and I will do it when he is rested at night before he goes to bed.
I love it when our priesthood leaders know just we need to spiritually grow in this earthly life. I try to read 3-4 chapters a day. It is so uplifting for me.

my son and I are starting again this week-we did read it together already twice in the last 3 years, but it is always surprising to find that there were things we missed, and it is cool to see how much more my son understands each time we read. good luck everyone, and 'follow the prophet!'
