Hi there, my name is Alison but most people call me Ali. I am from Northwest Ohio (Findlay) and I am married with four children. My church calling is Primary secretary which I absolutely love! I was Primary Pres. before this, so you can imagine that I am loving taking the back seat for a while. My DH and I were sealed in the D.C. Temple with our DD and DS. What an amazing experience! Since then we have had another two DD's. I am currently awaiting my surgery date which is set for Oct. 10, 2005 for LapBand surgery. I am mostly excited and just a tad nervous at this point. I am hoping to find others with the same beliefs to chat with. I also would love to be able to pick the brains of those who have had LapBand surgery and see how things went for you and what I might expect. I was thrilled to find that there is a Mormonism (LDS) board and hope that I might even make some new friends here!

Hi Ali, Welcome to this board. As you can see we kind of go through spurts, very active and then we go through a spurt of being quite quiet which is where we are at right now. Jump right in and throw in your 2 cents. Get to know us and we'll get to know you. I had an RNY done lap in March of 2004. So I don't have any advice or information on the procedure you chose. To date I've lost almost 145 pounds (depending on which scale I'm on). For the first time in my adult life I weigh 120 lbs. I can wear a size 6 dress (compared to the size 24 I was in before surgery). My jeans are a size 8 or 9 depending on the brand. I wear a size small blouse. This surgery was the best thing I've ever done. Was it easy? Not always. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. I notice that people treat me differently than when I was a person "of size". I, too, am in the Primary and have been for the last 9 years. I teach in the Valiant Primary. I used to be the music chorester (sp). Primary is where my heart is. Welcome to the board Ali and I hope you can get this board hopping again. Melody

Hi Ali welcome I just love this board I think it would be so cool if all of us could get together and meet but that will be kind of hard. I just made a major move for Hubby and I. We were promised work when we got here and there wasn't any. He quite his job of 17yrs. But I know that we were met to be here so I quess I have to be more trustworthy of are Heavenly Father. and what he has in store for us. I do know that my H.F. will not let us down he never has. From Ruthy o I moved from Tucson Az to Burney Ca (way northen).

Ali, Glad to meet ya! Congratulations on your surgery and hope that it goes well for you. I had gastric bypass almost 13 months ago and I feel great. I have lost about 110 lbs. depending on the scale and I have a renewed energey. Don't hesitate to chime in and share the gospel and uplift others here. It is almost like doing visiting teaching outside of your ward. Good luck Donna

Hi Alison! I am Allison! Nice to meet you! We have lots in common in addition to our name, as I am the Primary Pres in my ward AND a LAP-BANDER. I had my surgery in November of 2003. I have lost over 80 lbs. and have not had a bit of problem. It has been slow, but steady. Feel free to email me with any questions. I wish you the best! Allison in Utah

I haven't been posting much lately, but summer can do that. I'm 4 years out and I'm now 108 lbs, size 0-2, had a breast life, butt lift and TT. I'm currently recovering from shoulder surgery that I had yesterday. Two tears in the rotator cuff and impingment. I had one shoulder fixed last year and now the other one. Welcome to the board. It would be great if more Saints would post here. I just think that many don't know its here. I'm currently YW president and I've been Primary Pres, and RS. Keep us posted as you get closer to surgery date. You are in for a really wonderful journey. Christy

Thanks to all who have posted and welcomed me! And a great big congrats to all of you "losers"! I can't wait to join the club, so to speak. It is reassuring to see what success others have had with WLS. Even though I know this is the right decision for me, there are always moments when my resolve falters and I think, "Can I really do this? Can I make this work for me? Do I truly have the determination and will to carry through?". But I know that I can and will succeed because I am commited to losing the weight and living a much healthier, happier life with my family. In addition to that, I know if I do my part, Heavenly Father will help me every step of the way. Thanks again to you, my new found friends! I will keep you posted and let you know how things progress. There are a couple of LapBanders that I will email with questions...so get ready...I have lots of them! Ali
